CHAPTER SEVEN POV: Zara Ryan arrived at 6PM. He came through the door with snow on his jacket and a wide smile, pulling her into a hug that was warm and solid. She hugged him back, holding on a second longer than usual, her body still carrying faint marks from Damon. “I missed you,” he said into her hair. “I missed you too.” She meant it. That was what made everything worse. Damon came in from the living room, hand extended. “Ryan. Good to see you, man.”

Ryan is relaxed and a little awkward, but kind. Ryan took her back to the house for dinner, his mother insisted that Sally join. Athena and the boys are happy to hear that Sally will stay for dinner. It's past five o'clock in the evening, dinner has not yet been served. Ryan went on his Alpha duties with Albert and Jackson, leaving Sally in Athena's care. Honestly, Sally missed spending time with Athena. Especially after everything she's been through, she misses moments like this when they could talk about anything. Even Allen, Sally misses him. He's like the little brother she wishes she had.

Ryan followed her gaze and looked at his arms. "It's nothing. Why are you standing? Come here. Have a seat." Ryan moved towards the couch in the lounge. "No, I'm fine. I should go now. I just came to check on you." Kate exclaimed. "What about a cup of coffee?" Ryan offered. He wanted to spend some time with her. "I already had my morning coffee. Maybe some other day," Kate let out and turned to go when Ryan spoke. "What about lunch?" "I have an important meeting in the afternoon." She declared and walked towards the front door when Ryan clamored desperately.

She then lovingly pinched Amelia's face. "Thank you..." Rye looked into her friend's eyes and added with a smile, "for everything." Abby nodded and returned the smile. Abby's voice interrupted Rye as she was reaching for her coat. "Ace is always present at the pub at 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m." Rye arched his eyebrow. “So?” "Sometimes the riot begins at nine o'clock at night. And I am concerned that—" "I can handle myself, and I'll return home immediately as my shift ends."

I said to Thorne after he left. "Yeah, but have you found your own answer?" He asked me. "I think I would go with you, Ryan can have fun at home while I have fun at la citadel." I said putting in a bit of Spanish. "Okay, so now you should start packing or should I say repacking?" "I prefer to send a message to Ryan's nanny first just so he doesn't come back whining." I said and got up to use my phone. After a few back and forth, we were both able to agree on what time she had to come and I agreed with eight. It didn't matter what time the park opened, what I knew was that Ryan wouldn't rest unless he saw her.

It was probably the paper Fatima had given him. "Alright, let's see the damage," he muttered, squinting at the ink. He started gisting, reading out the hours while I leaned back in my chair. "It’s... wow. I don't have a single resting day except Friday. Just one day a week off. Madonna is a slave driver." I frowned slightly, feeling a pang of sympathy. "That’s a heavy start for a first week, Ryan. When is your shift for today?" "From 11:00 to 7:00," he said, checking the grid again. "Six-hour shift today since it's the weekend and they have extra staff in the evenings."

Ryan has ensured that nobody disturbs them when they are having breakfast! This is the only time Olivia chats a little with Ryan to avoid the awkward silence and then he will be gone for the whole day. Amanda said that Ryan has been spending much of his time home, after Olivia’s accident, keeping an eye on her needs and health. But now he has started to go to his office and doesn’t return till late evening. Olivia stretches and smiles, “Nanny! It is time for bath already?”

"Isn't it a bit late for you to be calling me?" Although it wasn't even 9 AM in London, Ryan was in Seattle, where it was still midnight on a Sunday, and he didn't usually stay up late on this day. "I missed you," he said, with a smile in his voice. "Can't I call you when I miss you?" "You can call me whenever you want, Ryan," I replied sincerely. "I'm just finding it strange that you're still up so late." "I'd say it's still pretty early for me," he said, surprising me.

“I understand,” I said quickly. “You don’t need to feel bad about that.” Besides, Enzo was my partner now and I was quite pleased with that. Even if Connie wasn’t. “Oh, my goddess, you guys!” Rachel said, running toward us through the lounge. “Ryan’s vacation home is vacant tonight and he’s having an epic party!” “A party?” I asked, raising my brows. “It’s Sunday. All students need to be back on campus today, which means curfew starts tonight,” I reminded her.

The heartbreaking truth is they're better off without me. "I'm in," I answer assertively. Ryan smiles widely. "I knew you wouldn't disappoint." I ignore his comment as shame colors my cheeks. "What do you need me to do?" Ryan assesses me for a minute. "Be at the park at eleven tonight. You can't be caught, nor tell anyone what you're doing. Don't forget to bring your weapons." I nod in agreement, already trying to arrange a decent plan. Ryan turns to leave but stops midstep. "I hope you know where you're getting into. After tonight there's no turning back."
