I turned around, my heart dropping into my stomach as I saw the triplets walking towards us. No. No. No. No! His eyes were narrowed at James, a low growl rumbling in his chest. "What do you think you're doing?" Ryder snarled; his voice laced with a dangerous edge. He glared at James like he was an annoying insect. "What? Nothing." James countered, his confidence faltering slightly under the triplets' intimidating gaze.

But I knew that the Riders were somewhere close by, ready to jump into action if needed. “I’ll be right here with you,” Prez’s voice sounded again, and he sounded calm and soothing, almost like the bastard was smiling. And knowing it was for me, made my heart skip funny in my chest… “And if you want some more company, you can consider me your angel in the sky,” Jasper’s voice sounded right after and a buzz sounded right above me. She enjoyed that evening having an innocent, but simple conversation with Damon. He didn’t know it, but he helped her forget about her problems for a moment. It was one of the best nights she endured since the second she left home.
