I stood before the mirror, trembling. “Come out!” I screamed. My voice cracked. “Come out, damn you!” But there was no answer. “You're supposed to be my wolf companion! My protector! How could you, how could you kill him?” My breath came in ragged sobs. “You monster… You coward! Show yourself!” My wolf didn’t speak. It was like she’d buried herself deep inside me, ashamed, or worse… indifferent. I collapsed to the floor, broken and breathless, tears searing down my cheeks. I curled into myself, praying that this was all a nightmare, that I’d wake up and find my father humming in the kitchen, that the arena had never happened, that my wolf had never emerged.

My voice broke at the last words, the feeling of helplessness settling deep into my bones. She sighed for the millionth time today, which was already doing my head in. Her expression softened as she looked at me, but it was not enough to soothe me. It mimicked a sort of pity that was usually given when bad news loomed. “It is not that I don’t want to help. It’s that no one can help. This isn’t an illness to cure. He and his wolf have to find their balance on their own. He’s experiencing a war within himself, something stronger than anything I’d ever heard of. And until the alpha fights to regain autonomy over his own body, there’s nothing else to be done. Until then, we wait.”

These inhumane beings didn't just go around stealing food and property, they also raped mated she wolves in the presence of their mated partners, and most humans were put through terror. This has not only scarred them physically but also emotionally. "If we do get back early, you can still drop by and give her a flower right?" Owen had gone on a killing spree earlier, he was so livid, I was too but Owen had seemed like a mad wolf. He was angry that Sophia's special day was interrupted because of this. Killing some of them, and injuring most of them had been satisfying. I can't imagine them infiltrating into our homes and hurting my Sophia.

Lucas tried to explain to Chad. "What happens when you snap? Do you recognize what's going on between your Wolf and human?" Chad asked, suddenly curious. "My human gets angry at what it wants to, which works up my Wolf. After that my Wolf gets stronger the more my human gets angry. If I get too angry, my Wolf craves blood, flesh, death. My human tries to reason with my Wolf. Usually it does the trick, but there are times, like last night, that my Blood Wolf comes out. If that happens, it's all over for those who provoke me. There are rare times my human prevails, but at great cost to my human." Lucas looked down, ashamed.

“Of course, you know how being a late bloomer sucks the life out of you. What makes this new?” “It’s getting worse. And If care is not taken, anything might happen. She is worried sick about what it might mean. You know what I mean, being without a wolf for the rest of your life. If she is unable to shift and find her mate before the Carmella, she would be banished or married off to churn up hybrids for some Western beast” “It doesn’t mean shit. She only reads too much into things. She should wait. I know how it feels, I felt the same way while waiting for that beast of a man. Remember?’’

"And should alpha wolves even get sick?" Fred was struggling to explain it to me, but I needed him to speak in plain terms. "Physically, he is fine, but I am not sure how to say this so it does not scare you." I was becoming impatient, and Fred looked very uncomfortable like he was betraying Adonis. But if I was going to be chosen as Adonis' bride, I had the right to know what was going on. Fred was doing what a good friend would do. "Adonis's wolf is not psychologically stable," he revealed, his face unhappy as he spoke. "His wolf is... crazy. And because his wolf and human sides are interconnected, he can't live a perfect life."

- Adriah’s POV - I closed my eyes tightly, desperately trying to block out the intense and agonizing pain tearing through my head. The wolf inside me kept howling, louder and louder, its voice echoing through every corner of my mind. It wasn’t like this before—never this wild, never this consuming. It was as if something deep within me was waking up, clawing its way to the surface. The sound grew unbearable, a haunting melody of rage and sorrow wrapped in an endless howl.

I went to the counter and said, "Can someone help me? Please? I heard a male voice behind me. - he said with a blank stare, not looking directly at me, but his voice sounded like the greatest contempt. - Pardon me? - I said looking directly at him, just in time not to continue the discussion because the attendant finally appeared. - May I help you? - she said innocently. As I started to speak to ask for the napkin he interrupted me - A number five burger and fries and a soda please, for the trip. He looked me in the eye and said, "I was here first! - Simply the most impolite human being I had ever met. - How rude! If you're having a bad day you should have stayed at your damn house! - I answ

It was something about Alpha Ross that I just couldn’t quite put my finger on. But I didn’t need to wait for long. “Do you know a Sadie Nicols?” He asked. “My father’s name is Leon Nicols.” I said. “Sadie is his daughter from his fated mate. She’s younger than you. She used to belong to this pack but she ran away. She’s a white wolf. The last of her kind. I believe that she faked her death to get away from me. And I need you to find out if she’s really dead or not.” Alpha Ross said.

“And don’t try to lie to me, I’ll confirm whatever you say from Chloe. And if you still choose not to tell me, I’m sure Chloe would be ready to spill everything.” I let out a frustrated sigh. Lying to him would make things only worse. Maybe I just needed to come clean. “Okay, but promise me you won’t get mad.” “I won’t get mad.” I didn’t trust that he wouldn’t get mad. I just knew that he only said it because he wanted me to open up to him. “Okay.” A defeated sigh escaped my lips. “I’m listening.” He stared at me intensely. I closed my eyes and blurted out the words. “I don’t have a wolf. I still haven’t discovered my wolf yet.”
