“Spiders.” Samantha smiled. “See, that was a lie. If you listen closely to her heartbeat and look for little twitches in her face you can see it. Watch me.” She smiled and looked at Kimmie. “Tell me what you are afraid of... and TELL THE TRUTH!!!” She sent out a command that made the visiting alphas gasp. “Rejection.”

They'd gotten what they came for. She warned me. The thought crawled under my skin like a parasite. She said we were being watched, over and over again. And I told her she was paranoid. I slammed my fist into a tree. The trunk cracked. Bark embedded itself in my knuckles. I didn't feel it. Even if I did, I didn't care. She was gone, and it was all because of my carelessness. “Nicholas!” Marta's voice, sharp with panic. “Finn is hurt. Badly. He's losing too much blood.”

Without a care, I usher the lot of them out of the room, telling them I would like some alone time with my sister. Once they have all left, I turn to Samara and ask her why she is so afraid. My question snaps her from her trance, her eyes moving to where I stand a few feet away from her. Her lip trembles slightly as she speaks. “I do not trust Demons.” She tells me. Understanding fills me. After everything that she has been through, it is to be expected that she would be fearful of Demons. “I want to go home.” Samara whispers, breaking my heart at how weak her voice sounds compared to before her demise. I nod my head in understanding, fighting back the emotion that gets stuck in my throat.

Jax looked at me with a serious expression. “Of course I do! I wasn’t born yesterday! It means when you’re scared of something, like I fear my father for example.” I through my hands up in the air. Jax chuckled and took my face in his hands softly making me look directly at him. “No honey. The word fear is more of an acronym.” I scrunched my face up in confusion. “Ok now you got me 38 shades of confuzzled fucked. Explain yourself.” Jax laughed and dropped his hands. “You’ve been hanging around Alida WAY to long hun. She’s rubbing off on you.” He said as he got up to get a pen and paper.

Immediately. * * Samantha paced about in her room, dialling a mom's line. She was suddenly too scared to stay in the house. She felt that sometimes would happen to her after seeing so many strange things. The underground. The men by the water side. The flask. Everything was strange and she could smell something fishy. She needed to get out of the house, immediately. Finally her mother picked the call she sure sighed with relieve. "Thank God mom! Where have you been? I've been calling you." Samantha whispered, staring around.

I said, feigning innocence. I glanced around after speaking. It was true. There wasn't a single living person in sight, but ghosts were everywhere. "This place is cursed!" Charlotte snapped. "I can't even stop. The moment I even think about it, it feels like needles are piercing my hands." Even as she spoke, her hands kept moving. Fear flickered across her face at the scene before her. The terror in her eyes was truly a rare sight to behold. "Is this your doing? Did you come up with all these tricks to scare me? You just want revenge for all the times I picked on you at school, don't you?"

However, Billie, desperate for a lifeline, threw Samara under the bus! Already roughed up by Liam, Samara quivered on the floor. Billie's words hit her like a bolt from the blue, sending waves of terror through her. She shook her head frantically. "No... that's a lie! Liam, don't listen to her, it's all lies, I swear I didn't..." Samara's whole body shook uncontrollably, her face ashen and twisted in fear, dreading Liam's wrath might end her life. She glared at Billie with fury and lunged, grabbing her hair and yelling with a twisted face. "Why do you frame me? I didn't... you're the lowlife! I'll make you pay for this..."

It reeked of decay and death. Samantha froze. The creature tilted its head slowly, as though studying her. Then, with a guttural snarl, it lunged. Samantha screamed, stumbling back as claws slashed through the air where her face had been a heartbeat ago. The sound tore through the forest, sharp enough to wake the dead. Her heart slammed against her ribs, panic clouding her senses. She tripped over a root and fell hard, the cold ground knocking the breath from her lungs.
