Selene’s POV I was trying to sleep, or at least pretend I could. The meeting had run late; Kieran left with the tension of it still sitting between us. He’d promised to come back before the moon set, but he isn't back yet and I guess there may have been a lot of back and forth during the meeting. I lay on my side, with my eyes open, replaying the elders’ faces in my head as if I was there with them. The Moon Goddess had spoken to both of us, and now the whole pack waited like coals under thin ash.

Sheraphina whispered tightly, “What did it say?” Thomas closed his eyes. “‘Your daughter’s orphan is of age. Return what belongs to us.’” Sheraphina went still. Completely still. Daughter’s orphan. Of age. Return what belongs to us. She felt her breath break. “Grandpa… what am I supposed to return?” He held her face gently, with trembling hands. “Not you, my child.” He whispered like a vow. “Never you. They cannot have you.” But she could see it in his eyes.

"You're back Sasuke?" Itsumi asked him concerned about her sister. "No, I left my phone on the bed" he replied with so much calm. "For a moment there, I thought you were staying" Itachi yawned as he spoke. "I'm going, bye." "Bye-bye, a million times" Sasuke closed the door and Itachi relaxed his upper body on the bed.
