The air thickened, firelight dancing on her blood-stained bandages, as Winter’s gaze locked onto her. Scarlett crossed the threshold into Winter’s chamber, her eyes, red-rimmed and glistening from tears, burned with a quiet, unyielding determination. Winter turned from the balcony, his scarred face darkening, storm-gray eyes narrowing in recognition as his gaze raked over her. His open robe hung loosely, baring a shirtless torso of chiseled abs, a broad, sculpted chest, and toned muscles that gleamed in the flickering glow, his pants riding low on his hips.

I confirm, and we part ways, as I begin walking down the hallway. As I spot Scarlett, Winter, and Chloe chatting animatedly, I slow my steps, taking a moment to observe them. Scarlett, with her fiery red hair, wears a green sweater that complements her complexion. Chloe, sports a yellow jacket atop her uniform. Winter, on the other hand, appears restless, her ice-blue eyes darting around as she runs a hand through her blonde hair. "Hi," I say as I approach the trio. Scarlett and Chloe return my greeting, their smiles bright and welcoming, but Winter remains silent, her lips pursed in a thin line.

Then she turned slowly. Mira lay on her bed, shoes still on, back turned, shoulders stiff. Fake-sleep stiff. “I know you weren’t drunk,” Scarlet said quietly, ripping open her wardrobe. No response. Scarlet pulled clothes off hangers with sharp, violent movements. Fold. Toss. Fold. Toss. Her hands trembled, not from weakness...but from restraint. “I won’t fight over a dusty man,” she continued, voice tight. “Not Grey. Not Ronan. Not any of them.”

Weston I can’t move. Not yet, not while my mind is going a million miles an hour. Scarlet wouldn’t steal them. She’s not a bad person. She’s not a con artist or a thief. She’s Scarlet, a quirky girl from Chicago who likes paranormal romance, drinking tea, and looking at the stars. She’s the woman I love.

Part of me regrets coming to Darkness Falls, but as I glance toward Frank, part of me thinks it all was worth it. I spot Scarlet approaching. I should have known that she wouldn’t keep her distance. She will become that bug that I will have to squish. Why can’t people just leave me alone? I am not doing anything to them other than existing. Existing is something these fallen wolves won’t ever get to do because of people like Scarlet. People always wanting what they can’t have and always condemning what they can’t understand. She sneers, “Nice shirt. You couldn’t even find a nice dress.”

Now, she had a date of her own—even if he wasn’t actually here yet. As Scarlet reached the crowd, she scanned the faces, looking hopefully for any sign of Sage. She wandered through the thick crowd, looking over the hundreds of eyes. Most of the crowd were in costume, making spotting him difficult. She wondered if he’d be in costume, too—but then quickly discounted that. Of course he wouldn’t. He didn’t need to be: he was already different than everyone else. He was an Immortalist. Scarlet looked down and suddenly felt self-conscious about not being in costume herself—but then realized that was silly, especially as several girls passed her dressed in vampire outfits. Wehn everyone is here Scarlet clears her throat and says "To all of my pack it has been an honour to be apart of this pack for two years, I have come to love you all for the many different wolves you are. It is an honour to be the sacrifice for this ritual and knowing I will still be with you all when you kick these creatures arses." The wolves cheered at this. Scarlet continued

Scarlett stumbled back until her shoulders hit the rough bark of an old oak. "So this is how it ends," she whispered. Rejected by the man she loved, only to die before sunrise. The lead wolf lowered its head, muscles coiling. Scarlett shut her eyes. If death was coming, she wouldn't beg. A sharp whistle sliced through the storm. The wolves froze, heads snapping toward the road. Headlights broke the darkness as a line of black SUVs rolled silently into the clearing and stopped in perfect formation. Doors opened in unison. Men in black suits stepped out with military precision, forming a wall between Scarlett and the wolves. None of them looked afraid. If anything, they looked mildly annoyed.

Scarlet POV “Scarlet is back!” I heard Courtney yell from inside our cabin. I laughed to myself as I walked inside of our little but cozy cabin. The three trouble makers are what we used to call ourselves but as we matured, we dropped that and just became more like sisters. My name is Scarlet. I stand at 5 '7”, deep greenish/blue eyes, deep brown hair that is waist length with a slim but toned build. My brother is the Alpha to the Red Creek Pack but due to our childhood, I would rather not live in a pack. Instead, I have built a life for myself with two great friends. He fully supports me and we still run our co-owned jewellery business.
