**Mia's POV** Time seemed to slow in that dimly lit kitchen as Kyle's weight pressed against me, the sharp scent of scotch mingling with his familiar cologne. His head rested heavy on my shoulder, dark hair tickling my neck as his breathing steadied. "Kyle," I said softly, trying to shift his weight. "We need to get you upstairs." He stirred, lifting his head to look at me with unfocused eyes. In the soft glow of the kitchen lights, his usual sharp features had softened, making him look younger, almost vulnerable.

I felt my nostrils breathless, filled with mucus, but I couldn't help but shed more tears. Killian was out cold. And just like always—I showed up too fucking late.

Kyle was outside the packhouse, shirtless, sweat dripping down his sculpted chest as he finished with a set of exercises. His dark hair was damp, the veins in his arms flexing with every motion.

Anna, Tiffany and I decide to stop by a cafe where we eat lunch before they take me back to our apartment. By the time we arrive at my apartment, it's 3pm already and we find Kyle standing by the kitchen area with a can of Dr Pepper in his hand. Upon seeing us,his face brightens and his lips curl into a smile as he sees us and he starts to make his way towards us but before we know what's happening,Anna beats him to it and throws herself at him, knocking the both of them down to the floor.
