The book was named in the deep and it was about some girl named Hephzibah and it was pretty interesting and scary the way my baby sister had told it with a touch light under her chin, illuminating her face and weird canines. The next day proved uneventful, and so did the days that followed. Two days became three, and three became four. In time, seven days grew by with boring, unprecedented monotony. The days lumbered by in agonizing sluggishness. Sethlzaar found solace only in the nights he spent with Saelin when she told him tales of ancient times and ancient people. She rarely had much to say of the touched, but her tales proved pregnant with gods. Slowly, he fell into a game of sorts with himself where he would wonder which parts of which tale were told to her by the Abbess, and which were told to her by Rin.

It was so old; the covers had dropped off and the stitching was coming apart. Some of the back pages had gone. But I read it from cover to cover so many times.... ".... There were all the usual stories in there; Aladdin, Sinbad, getting that damn genie back in the bottle.... But my very favourite was the 'Who Told the Tales' part of it, with Scheherazade, saving the lives of all those girls, and her own, by telling stories every night.... Who the hell was Scheherazade? .... But I bite my lip and stay silent, listening....
