The siblings made it back to the school they could tell that something was amiss as they began to stalk back to their classroom in silence. Avoiding the police took longer than either of them thought, the mother and daughter were ranting and raving about monsters, but Connor and Glory knew that they would never believe them. But the moment that Ethan Storm heard about what was going on they knew that he would demand an answer from them.

"The data just stops. What happened?" I let out a frustrated sigh, tapping the paper as I tried to ignore what I was feeling being near him. "Yes, I did hit a wall. But that is only because in my pack, we don't have the facilities for this kind of work. Our science team... well, they aren't really science team people. They focus almost entirely on ancient moon magic, rituals, and traditional healers who can mend broken bones with herbs. They don't care about advanced genetics or biochemical cellular structures. They don't focus on going far in technological advancements, so I ran out of equipment."

She was a tall Asian girl on my left, and we exchanged brief smiles, but nothing more. The other three women wore the new white tennis shoes issued to them by the staff of the show. We all wore sturdy jeans and long-sleeved T-shirts with “The Island” logo, along with light windbreakers. Mine was currently tied around my waist, and most of the others either carried them or had stuffed them in their backpacks.

Beneath the carved warning, four crude tally marks stood out. After a moment's thought, I took the utility knife and carved another stroke into my skin. Blue immediately nods his head. “Okay so here is the plan. I am sending ten monsters to attack the Ma Vista’s tomorrow and I need you too...” The next morning is Mayhem all the monsters gather in the backyard as they prepare to hear all the monsters that will be going to the Ma Vista’s today. There is an excited buzz that floats around the yard as they all stand there waiting for me to finally address them. Finally I stand, all the monsters stop whispering to one another and the backyard falls silent.

A monster? The moment we step onto the grounds, the smell hits. It's the smell of copper and rot and something disgusting. My stomach lurches. Kira swears under her breath. Isaiah's jaw tightens as the backup soldiers fan out, their boots silent on the snow, their weapons drawn. Then the chanting reaches us. It's loud enough to vibrate in my bones. My hand rests on my stomach, my palm flattening over my bump on instinct. 'Please,' I think desperately. 'Please be okay.‘

I repeat, tasting the word on my tongue. "We are monsters, aren't we?" Nicodra asks deviously. "Yes, we sleep in beds and bathe in showers, eat with forks and knives—cooked foods—but we're beasts. I had heard that a woman of your pack killed her mate. Bizarre, isn't it?" "Tragic, I think," I answer. "I can't lie, it's been on my mind. Horrible, terrible thing." David says, "We're choosing to move on from the incident."

His cool voice and reasons made her roll her eyes. “Or you can’t swim?” She questioned a potential fact. She didn't care much about the issue that he said someone had chosen this island as a holiday destination for him. She was more interested in knowing he hadn’t gone for a swim despite being on an island. “Of course, I can swim. I even won some medals in school back then” Yeah, Whatever. “Or are you afraid of sharks?” “The statistics of shark attacks in this area for the past hundred years is zero, I have checked.” The answer made her roll her eyes again.

The feed shifts, his face shrinking to the corner as the island map fills the screen—blue terrain lines, red dots marking monster positions. “The monsters are moving strangely,” he explains, tapping the screen. The red dots crawl inward toward the island’s center. “Wait—are they all abandoning their territories?!” someone blurts. “Yes,” he confirms. “Why?” He taps again, and green dots appear. “These are the Alphas. They’ve been moving deeper into the island, searching for the monsters. This image is from last night.” Another tap—the red dots shift again, flanking the green ones, circling from behind.

All I could hope for her to be happy and never come back to this place . I got up from the park bench . The early morning sun didn't help much with the cold either. I smiled at how terrified Belle was of giving her finals . She had clung on the phone call forever to find comfort .It felt good to know that the things that scared her were as simple as that. I picked up my pace to the haunted place I was forced to call home .
