Bento ran off across the yard and I laughed at his efforts to look for the object as if it were the most important thing in the world, coming out all proud with Scooby in his mouth the moment he found it. There was total silence for a while until Jacob heard, “shit.” “Jack what is it?” asked Jacob. “I… I am seeing her figure far at the distance moving towards Black Woods,” when Jacob heard Jack he dropped his phone on the ground and ran at lightning speed transforming into a giant wolf.

I can't help but ask her. "Yeah, but is everything alright?" she inquires, still a bit clueless about the situation. "Everything is truly magical, my love. There's so much magic in the air that during my run, I encountered a creature straight out of legend," I tease her with hints. "A yeti?" she ventures. "Nope, try again," I say with amusement. Jackie chirped. “Jackie! Where are your crutches?” I asked in shock—she’d needed them just the night before. “Doc said I’m all better!” she beamed, squirming in my grip. Laughing, I hugged her tightly as the other pups swarmed me, each clamoring for their own embrace. “Luna, you smell weird,” Jacob announced bluntly. “Jacob!” his mother hissed. I inhaled, catching the unfamiliar scent—not the usual ash of my dragon, but something sweeter. Realization struck, and I went still.

I am not scared of her’ I stood up losing my patience. ‘Harper, you need to learn how to talk’ I said sternly to her, but she raised her brow as if challenging me. ‘Oh really? Than prove me wrong and show us your mighty wolf’ her words caught me off guard, her eyes had a sarcastic challenge as if she knew I can’t shift. ‘What is this smell?’ suddenly Jack said, grabbing my attention towards him and following him we all inhaled catching up the ugly scent. ‘Eww, its disgusting’ one of the pups covered his nose to block the smell. I again inhaled deeply, and my eyes widened in fear, even Jack and Harper also were looking at me as if they had also recognized the smell.

Inside, nestled between my clothes and the SpaceX snack bars, was… a creature. A small furry animal, about the size of a large rabbit—snow-white fur except for the black streak across its spine, huge round eyes like polished obsidian, and tiny crescent-shaped horns poking through the fluff on its head. Its paws were dainty. Its tail curled like a cloud. It was… adorable. Which immediately made me suspicious. It wasn’t eating the snacks in my bag. It was chewing—my bullets. “Uh… hey?” I said, pulling it gently out.

“Being a werewolf isn't enough? You gotta be something else on top of that?” Troy asks, turning fully toward him and crossing her arms over her chest. “So, what are you then?” The wind moves softly over the hilltop, carrying the scent of grass and distant pine from the forest below. Jackal stands a few feet away from them, lazily chewing on the tall grass while flicking his tail every now and again. Dorian glances at her before tilting his head slightly.

“And they were kissin’ so much they didn’t even notice us. We waited, but it didn’t seem like they were ever gonna stop. They were kissin’ forever.” Keely groaned. Her forehead fell to Jack’s chest. “See? Now everyone knows we were sucking face.” Jack kissed her crown. Twice. “And we’da gotten away with it too if wasn’t for them meddlin’ kids.” She snickered and looked up at him. “I never would’ve pegged you as a Scooby Doo fan.” “I have Scooby Doo boxers.” “Aren’t you full of surprises?” “You’ve no idea of the surprises I have in store for you.”

In the end, I think they turned out great. Not that I knew what the others were for but there was also a frog on a log, a humming bird and a fat Cardinal. The very last one I was drawing was for Arlo. He got those picture for us, or more for me. It was of a wolf. It’s head was downward with his teeth showing. The hair was standing straight up with a human skull under it’s paw. There wasn’t any flesh on it, just the bones. Originally, I was going to make it a dead rabbit or something but this seemed appropriate. Keeping this one black and white, kept some of the mystery alive. “Charlotte??” Waylon yelled as he was coming in.
