My heart felt like it had been ripped open, and a cold chill flooded me. “What the hell are you doing?” I slammed my fist against the window in fury, desperate to break up the disgusting scene in front of me. The thick glass muffled my voice, but the heavy thudding at least caught their attention. Up on the roof, one of the guys heard the noise too, but he thought I was signaling him to lower the safety rope. By the time Bailey and Derek pushed open the window to look down, I was already being lowered to the ninth floor.

She exclaimed happily. "Yes, you are, Grumps." "You can let go of me now, I think I can do this." She said, still paddling her arms. Her strokes were more powerful now. "Are you sure about that?" I asked, not quite sure if I should let go. If anything bad happened to her, I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself. "Yes, I am sure." I slowly let go of her waist as I watched her slowly. At first, she was doing great but then she started to panic. She moved her hands and legs awkwardly and started to sink.

The ground rushed up to meet her, unforgiving. Her head struck hard. Darkness poured in like ink. Somewhere far away, a car screeched to a halt. A door slammed. Footsteps. Voices panicked, unfamiliar. “Oh my God, call 911!” “She’s not moving!” “Don’t touch her, don't touch her!” Nora didn’t hear them. Didn’t feel the rain that had started to fall lightly, speckling the pavement with cold dots. Didn’t know blood was pooling beneath her, dark against the road.

An obsidian stone is inside my seal, and the guards fall over themselves to let us inside once they know who I am. The wall is ridiculously tall, made of thick, reinforced steel. I crane my neck back, move my hair back to see it all. The portly guard pulls a lever, and a portion of it lowers. Clunky and groaning, the ice flys out, the gate forcing its way open. The gate lowers completely, warm water slowly trickles out, and the inside of Estate Eclipse is steaming. I grab onto Dante and he helps me past the blocks of ice until we cross the other side of the gate.

I had to live. For us. I took one step. Then another. Then collapsed to my knees. The cold ground scraped against my skin. My head lolled back and I stared up at the streetlight that flickered above me like a dying star. My lips moved before I could stop them. “Grayson…” It came out as a whisper, a ghost of a name I wasn’t supposed to hold onto anymore. Then the world tilted. And I fell. The ground cracked and swallowed most of the people and everything made of glass; the windows, the bottles all shattered to pieces and pinned most people to the wall. Alvara and Hudson didn’t understand what was happening and they couldn’t control themselves either. Soon the whole building collapsed burying most people. She stopped abruptly looking at our hands, shock visible on her face and I borrowed the same expression. With a flushed face, Bella pulled out her hand stalking out of the car leaving me to wake up Dylan who dozed off somewhere in the ride. Bella's POV Leo caught up to me easily as I climbed the stairs slowly trying not to trip over myself. Why does this goddamned church have so many stairs. Right now I was on the twentieth stair trying to calm my uneven breathing.

“I don’t have to show myself. You know me. You know me better than anyone. The truth is, I was the one who raised you. I was the one who made you into what you are. All you need to do is look… deep.” The whole street goes dark, bringing out the contrast of the dark eyes even more. I step back, and all of a sudden, the ground disappears. It becomes a perfect mirror of the darkening sky. I let out a scream, trying to run, but it feels like falling now. My feet can still touch something solid, but a force of gravity is yanking at me, making me feel like I’m getting absorbed into a sandpit. I stagger back, trying to get away. But the absence of movement in my feet makes me fall flat on my back.
