Micah mutters, “Whatever is left of it.”
Mother’s tone softens. “I have missed you both.”
“You had chances,” he says coldly. “You did not take them.”
“I know.”
The silence stretches.
Then Alessandro, bless his chaotic soul, breaks it. “Okay, so… anyone else starving, or just me?”
I burst out laughing before I can stop myself.
Even Dad smiles. “You are impossible.”
“Been told that,” Alessandro replies. “But hey, we have got freedom, forgiveness, and family drama. That is brunch material right there.”
