The words came out steady, but my pulse was hammering.
Every head in the room turned to me. Benjamin’s voice was measured. “Where?”
“Somewhere the police won't think of checking,” I said, my fists tightening again. “Our secret house.”
“Secret house?” Marcus frowned.
“When we were teenagers, Lucy’s family had a place out in the middle of nowhere. They never told anyone about it. Sometimes, if she was in trouble, she would take me there so she wouldn’t get punished alone. She threw parties there too when we were in high school. I had forgotten about it until now.” My throat tightened. “She is probably hiding there.”
