Alice POV The castle where I met the Dark Lord was every bit the place of nightmares. Even though on the outside it looked beautiful and well-designed architecturally, the scent of blood and death hit me even before I stepped in. I am sure the dungeons hid the horrors I could not begin to imagine. A cold shiver went down my spine and Rina whimpered in my head. “We should not be here!”, she growled at me. We were not in the best of relationship as of now, in fact ever since my original agreement with the Dark Lord. “I could not refuse his summons, Rina, you know that! Besides, he needs us, we will be safe”, I retorted. “Yes, he needs us. For now. What happens to us when he no longer needs us?

Takoa yells. “How do we know you aren’t here to carry out the spell?” Kanji asks. “Because I come in peace. I heard them speaking with some witches. One was there by the name of Ronsclift. He agreed to help. He is a worthless excuse of a warlock. Couldn’t find his way out of a wet paper bag. But he is a determined nimrod if nothing else.” She continues. “So why are you here?” Takoa asks. “I want to help you to catch this witch. Then assist in the capture and killing of Alpha Leopold.”

“Circle up, damn it! We’ve got a strong one here.” The witches hesitated, backing away instead. “You all want to die?” Samuel roared, his voice shaking the room. He resumed his dark incantation, but Rane countered with a low, steady chant of his own. His hands rose, and when they dropped, a blinding blue light cascaded over the room. Everyone hit the floor, stunned.

"Go fuck yourself." He laughs. "I like you. You've got spirit. I can see why Reign's so obsessed." He pulls out a knife, the same one his guy used on my neck, and twirls it between his fingers. "But that spirit is going to make this harder than it needs to be." "Good,” I retort, my voice low and steady. “I'm not making anything easy for you." "See, that's where you're wrong." He nods to Ravenna, who steps forward with a small vial of something dark and viscous. "Ravenna here is a very talented witch. She's going to give you something that will make you very cooperative."

My nerves rang through me as I ran toward the battle, but once I sliced the first Raven witch across the stomach, the nerves turned to rage. They had Sera and somehow turned her into a werewolf. They attacked our pack and put them under a spell. A snarl ripped out of me from Tala; she wanted blood for their crimes, and I obliged. Naya stayed close to me, guarding my back as I guarded hers. We tore into wolves and witches with swords; Naya pulled out a knife that gutted a large grey wolf from behind.

Days passed, my body aching with hunger, thirst, and exhaustion. The scar on my side burned like fire, a reminder of the curse that bound me. Finally, I reached a river. The water sparkled under the morning sun, mocking me with its beauty. I collapsed by its edge, panting, my body weak. I opened my eyes and found myself back to my human form. Then I guessed I had run so far away from where Tatia’s spell could hold me back. I became ridiculously thirsty,the thirst was unbearable, so I lowered my head to drink, but as soon as the water touched my lips, I choked.
