She moved the dagger down in a fluid motion, as if she were cutting into the wards that were keeping me apart from Avalon. The wind began to pick up as Lilith struggled to cut through the portal. Her skirts and hair flying wildly about her. Her feet picked up off the ground as she continued her enchantment, by now she was all but screaming the words. Eventually light began to break through the cut in the nothingness before us, and suddenly a whole new scene appeared before us.

Sophia replied, her voice clipped, a sharp blade in the dark. As Zero slammed the Enter key, Sophia felt the red mole at the corner of her eye ignite as if pierced by a red-hot iron. A torrent of chaotic, freezing code flooded her mind, a digital blizzard of memories and malice. It was the "Shadow"—the spectral grudge from her past life, weaponized by the algorithm—making its final, desperate struggle to overwrite her soul before the connection severed.

My head is pounding behind my eyes which are starting to shake just like my knees. “Excuse me.” The shadow announces before walking right into me. Once again, I am watching from behind my eyes as I get into the bed and under the flimsy covers. Once it is done, the shadow comes out but this time he is a floating mass of darkness with two glowing white eyes. “You… you helped me earlier.”
