“You think you’re the only one?” “You wound me, Delia,” Gray chuckles. She slaps his arm playfully, letting him know it's time to get serious. He straightens up, as all signs of amusement snap from his face in a split second and holds still while she goes to work on the chain in his hands. She places both of her hands a few inches above the metal and whispers some incantation until a low blue glow can be seen from underneath her palms. When the glow fades she moves her warm copper brown hands and sighs.

My steps stay steady as we move deeper into the Shadow Woods. “Some magic depends on the people it’s used against.” A low branch brushes past my shoulder. “If they start suspecting magic is around them… even a little… the spell weakens.” Leaves crunch under Damian’s boots behind me. “The cloak fades,” I continue. “Little by little.” “And when that happens?” he asks. “Then they’ll see us,” I say plainly. “And hear us.” Another breath fills my lungs.

I wondered if they ever fought over something. From what they just showed us, they never kept secrets from one another. “The Book of Darkness, Liber Umbra, or The Shadow Book can be used for both good and evil, but there’s always a price.” “Like life or soul kind of price?” “Yes, Ryden. It depends on the black magic you want to use. It can bring someone back to life. It can cause severe destruction of any living being. Nothing is good about it, but brings destruction and death.”

“Would we be able to identify the Shadow?” “Shadows have a grey Aura, in the worse cases black. The issue is their aura changes with their moods. They have unstable magic. If they are thinking thoughts of light their aura will appear white. This makes them hard to find at times. But I wouldn’t want us to find it. Not until we are prepared.”

That was when something wholly unexpected happened. She was reaching for the were's chains again when she saw the darkness around her hands begin to grow . . . deeper. Yes, "deeper" was the only thing that made sense. Shamira could see in any darkness, except that blackness which now encircled her hands resisted even her vision. Total darkness, cold and hard. They’re just knocked out. Once the smoke started clearing out, what they’ve seen next had all of them in awe. Z was holding her hands together, a black sleeve coiling in her arms, just as her body had been embraced by an obsidian-black almost tangible shadow, forming that of a cloak with spikes in the end, her gray hair tied in a messy bun, giving way to the creepy smirk going on about Z’s face. “Her shadow,” whispered Marjorie, her mouth wide open. “I thought she lost it.”

my head was starting to spin, this was so confusing. “Yes, you are bound by blood, but by our blood, your mothers and mine. That will only account for so much. The darkness loomed around them like a cloak. Sekhmet carried an old-fashioned torch he pulled from a hole in the wall to light the way. It was a bit theatric and unnecessary, considering vampires and werewolves alike could see in the dark. But it set the mood for torture nicely; causing shadows to dance across the walls. A bleeding.

Razor thin branches slapped at our faces, stinging our ankles and any visible piece of skin. The darkness was all consuming, the shadows thick as they surrounded us like the heavy fabric of a cloak. If only they protected us the way a cloak would, if only they offered their assistance as they had numerous times in the past. Something changed since I got my magic, and that something was big enough to alter the way the shadows acted around me. In the past, they’d jump at the opportunity to be of service, to exact a price they saw most fitting. Their whispers would plague my mind, their slippery voices a haunting song of desperation, excitement, and longing.

The three members of dark-shadows all have long black hairs that reached up to their backs which they left flowing. Their body is one built like a strong tower and they leave their chest bare while their trousers hung just below their waist. Dark shadows are known for fornication and they never really have anything good to do since the split of the covens. Their coven is like a brothel. But despite it, they are still one of the strongest covens and that is because of their special ability of not been seen when they don’t want to.
