“Do you think I’m blind? There isn’t a mark on your neck. If Lucas was using you as one of his toys, you would be a bloodless, empty sack by now.” We came to a stop at the archive doors. I stared in awe as Brigid pressed a thumb to a scanner on the lock, and the door gave a satisfied beep. I couldn’t believe how naive I’d been to think I could simply sneak in on my own. Brigid pushed the door inward and we stepped inside to a vast library of books and documents. Shelves full of journals and documents expanded from floor to ceiling, and rows and rows of books lined the floor in meticulous patterns. It was like walking through a maze.

My reasoning is because I was focusing on finishing off high school, had to deal with graduation and family matters, and most of all I was unmotivated and I have been. Yes, I know it sounds like an excuse but I'd rather write Blinded when I'm motivated rather than write crappy chapters that I don't enjoy writing. So for the month of June, I'm going to take a break from writing, find some sort of motivation, and overall figure out what direction I want Blinded to go. So for right now, it is a goodbye unit next month. Sorry for the delay. -L.N.F

Even now, I remember how the light filtered through the tall windows onto her white four poster bed, the vanity filled with her carefully arranged porcelain perfume bottles. When the old physician contacted me, requesting my help at his library. When I arrived he greeted me kindly, his blue eyes peering over his spectacles in a friendly, sincere manner. He explained that he needed assistance cataloging and organizing the many collection of books and manuscripts within the library's walls. I readily accepted, looking forward to the opportunity of spending time amongst such knowledge and history.

The glasses came last—thick lenses in outdated frames, deliberately unflattering. They changed everything. People saw what they expected to see. An old-fashioned woman. Quiet. Forgettable. The bus ride to the public library had been uneventful. I sat near the window, tracking reflections rather than faces, habit ingrained too deeply to discard. Damien and his people had been efficient, but I was smarter and much more prepared. They didn’t even have a chance. The public library where I now worked was plain and boring. Just the way I intended it. The badge clipped to my cardigan read Assistante Bibliothèque, printed in a font no one ever looked at twice.

*Kieran* The library smells like binding glue and old paper. I have no idea why anyone would ever want to spend more than a few moments here. When I was younger, our governess used to herd all of us in here–Anwen, Candace, Finn, Ingrid, and me. We’d sit next to her and listen to her read from storybooks. Every once in a while, I’d see two big black eyes staring at us from the doorway. Why Blanca was so keen to join us, I never could figure out. It was just a damn book, nothing to get excited about.

I guess that is why it is called the private section, because it is in the cameras blind spot, which was good but could also be dangerous. What if some one was killed here, they would not be able to figure out what happened because the cameras do not reach here. I received the guide from her and walked to the science section of the library. Since I joined here as an assistant, the only section that receives lots of books in this college is science. Once I graduate, I'll fill up the philosophy section too. Why don't people think philosophy is more interesting than science? While I was arranging the new books in the rack, someone was standing behind me. Who's it? When I took a look, it's a guy in glasses. A nerd. Is he looking for a book?
