It was beautifully crafted: two silver wolves howling at the moon etched into the forehead, with thin black detailing that traced the cheekbones. The mask made me feel different—stronger, bolder. Like maybe I could fake bravery for one night. “I’m going to find Alpha and Luna Silvermane,” she said, squeezing my hand once before disappearing into the crowd. And just like that, the warmth of her touch vanished.

The basement floor was a scene of depravity. Seeing that her threat failed, Vicky struggled against her restraints as hard as she could. It only loosened her blouse and bared more of her fair skin, stimulating the lust of the masked men instead! The man in the dog mask chuckled sleazily. "Don't worry, Ms. Turnbull. Chapter 1 I sit in front of my mirror, my reflection staring back at me. My straight chestnut-coloured hair is piled on top of my head into a perfect bun, and the off-the-shoulder blush coloured top and high-waisted black lace skirt adorn my body, hopefully portraying me as a confident young she-wolf ready to take on her role in this pack.

We only have an hour left before the ball and everyone needs to be ready. Three quick knocks followed by one long one tells me my pack mates are ready and I link them to come in and to be careful not to be seen. The she wolves already have their makeup and hair done, a mask on their face. They frown when they see me, hair still a mess and face still clean.

I married my nightmares, a ruthless, Alpha, that could even kill someone for stepping on his toes. Will I survive my stay here in this palace? I’m not sure. But I wondered why it was wearing a mask though. He even wear it to sleep. Is he not tired of it? I wonder what his face looks like. “ are you staring at me? Hiding myself completely under it.

Rebecca scoffed, the universe must really suck. Clenching her fist together, she forced a smile on her face before making her way towards the table. River shouts from across the field, where one of the sheep has decided that the vegetable patch is its new home. “I’m coming!” I yell back. The second sheep makes a sharp turn, nearly colliding with me before darting away again, absolutely determined to make this as difficult as possible. “Why are they so fast?” Rain groans somewhere behind me, still half-covered in mud. “Because you’re slow,” Sienna calls back, not even looking up from her recording. One of the sheep—a particularly aggressive-looking one with horns, I’d name that one Lucifer—decides to test the fence integrity by ramming it repeatedly with its head.
