Elara stood at the window of her apartment, gazing out at the city skyline as the sun began its slow descent, painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. It was a scene she had come to cherish—the vibrant colors blending together as day turned to night, a reminder of the beauty in transitions. Just as the sky shifted from one state to another, so too had her life undergone a transformation. The tumultuous days of uncertainty and emotional upheaval were behind her, and for the first time in years, Elara felt something she hadn’t dared to feel in a long time: hope.

I said. “The existence of werewolves is an open secret, but a wolf running through the streets of New York in broad daylight is going cause more chaos than we want,” Kade said as he took off his shirt. “You’re going to Shift?” I asked incredulously. I instinctively diverted my gaze as his toned, muscled torso came into view. “You won’t let me use my contacts,” he replied as I heard the sound of his belt being unbuckled and his pants unzipping. “So I’m going to track them myself.”

“I’m listening, but I’m not sure I like what I’m hearing so I might cut you short and send you out soon.” He looked up at me and his eyes glistened with unshed tears. All of which were fake to me. He thinks that he could shed crocodile tears to move me? “I made terrible mistakes. I didn't know what came over me. Leaving you, choosing Kiara… I ruined everything good in my life. Until we finish rebuilding, random wondering will have to wait. Mirele and I have grown so close, the way we sync to work together is just incredible. We're still two separate, distinct individuals, but we don't even have to actively think to each other to speak anymore. It wasn't the "Slave-Link" of the Star-Callers or the "Hive-Mind" of the Swarm. It was a Symbiosis. The shifters found their transformations were now effortless, fueled by the planet itself. The humans noticed their illnesses were being "Filtered" by the very air they breathed.

It was a first but I was grateful that my dad was by my side. Once I recovered from the initial shock he had me follow him outside, the outdoors provides the best playground for getting used to the differences between being human and wolf.
