to me. I still felt uneasy that night, so I decided to drive home. After I parked the car in the underground garage, I heaved a sigh of relief. Surely Lyra wouldn't be able to drive my car away now. That night, before I went to bed, I received a call from the hospital. "Miss Willow, your eye exam results are in." My eyes had been hurting and blurry for the past few days, so I went for a checkup. The doctor said, "Your corneas are severely detached, and your retinas are also damaged. You need to have your corneas removed."

She had landed three in today's session, which Vann registered by not commenting on. "Your footwork is improving," he said, which from Vann was approximately equivalent to anyone else weeping with pride. "High praise," she said. "It's an observation." He circled her. "You anticipate movement differently than any wolf I've trained. Normally a shifted wolf telegraphs with the shoulders. You telegraph with the eyes. Which is actually more subtle, and is the only reason you've managed to hit me three times today, but you need to learn to stop doing it because against a more experienced opponent it will eventually be read."

And as they walked away, Enora overheard the human tell the shifter to be more careful with his eyes. The most obvious way to tell shifters apart from humans were their eyes. They were reflective, shiny like a piece of aluminum foil, no matter the color. Though there were rare individuals with wild or shocking colors, most were your common, everyday colors. Enora had never seen Victor's eyes reflect, but then shifters had the ability to conceal that, so the fault was hers for not thinking of that possibility. Once the couple were out of earshot, Enora had said that she was glad she'd never be in that situation. She knew it would be harder for her than most, so avoidance was the obvious optio

At the same time, he prevented me from looking at Sylvia. I shoved Marcus away angrily before using all of my strength to backhand him. As a result, one of Marcus' cheeks became red and swollen in an instant.

All the moans from the pain left me panting for air, with only the ventilator to keep me from suffocating. Suddenly, the ventilator stopped, and the air purification machine beside me stopped, plunging my surroundings into silence. Without the ventilator's help, my breathing grew rapid, and my pain grew even more intense. With the air purification system shut down, the supposedly sterile room was now no different from any other location. The surgery to remove eyeballs was an extremely risky procedure, and without proper environmental conditions, an infection would be inevitable. A confused voice rang out from outside. "The power's out! What happened?"

He was shifting. Shifting was when a wolf was most vulnerable, which was why shifting publicly during my Luna ceremony had such a large impact, because for a split second it meant we were deaf, blind, and immobile. It also meant that Elroy lost access to his aura. However, it wouldn’t last long.

I tell him, wrapping my legs around his waist to move him closer. "With pleasure, my dear." He slides inside, and I feel a slight pain that quickly goes away. One major benefit of being a shifter is that we actually get to enjoy our first time with less pain than a human woman. He stretches my walls with his massive size, and I clench around him when he stops. The way his eyes glaze over tells me this feels as good to him as it does to me. "Alright, little doe, it's time for me to claim you. Do you want to mark me first?" He asks, adjusting slightly so he can move a little deeper. Is he getting ready to come up the back of my throat? Is that even possible?

I froze. Her eyelids didn't flutter with the rapid eye movement of a true faint. Instead, there was a minute, calculated tension in the muscles of her jaw. And then, I saw it—a tiny, microscopic crack in her expression. Her left eye shifted beneath the lid, not as a reflex, but as if she were checking to see if I was still looking. She was faking it.

With this, Selene’s hands instantly left me and flew to her face as she started to yell. Once again, she was screaming in pain, only that this time, it came out distorted and she had genuine fear in her eyes. Why? Because I had shifted her lower jaw to the complete left and misaligned it. I rose up to my feet now as she lay there screaming in her bloody mess. Let’s see how she sucks his cock now. The crowd erupted in cheers now, my victory incoming— but also something else…
