AGAINST THE TIDES

AGAINST THE TIDES

The pure fresh air of the morning devoid of the poisonous gasses inhaled by the innumerable vehicles running to and fro in the city streets gives a boost to the body to battle the day's hectic schedule. My gaze swiveled over the waiting room, looking for a place for me to sit. A T played quietly in one corner, a distraction that might keep them away from their pain. The seats closest to it stood empty. A man sat at the end leaving an empty seat at the far corner of the hall. I smile the moment my eyes rested on the two empty seats sandwiched between sweating and pregnant ladies. A little boy of about six years leaned forward and filled the space with harsh, hacking coughs. I understood why n

She Was Never Just the Billionaire’s Wife

She Was Never Just the Billionaire’s Wife

(Natasha) "Sir, the vending machine isn't broken," the security guard says. "It just doesn't take hundreds." "Then what," Elias asks, "Is it for?" I steer him back toward the chairs before Brenda gets a call demanding the hospital be bought and refitted with butlers. St. Anne's waiting room was built for maybe eight anxious people. We are eleven. Gloria's on her third lap of the reception desk, being aggressively charming at a woman who has no new information and is starting to know our names.

My Sister's Keeper

My Sister's Keeper

“I don’t know, honey. Usually not more than half an hour. I’ll keep checking and will call for you when I get it.” Ashleigh gave the woman her name and stepped into the almost-empty waiting room. Picking up a recent issue of People Magazine, she settled into a padded chair. A TV on the wall above her softly chattered with Good Morning America. During the next fifteen minutes, visitors began lining up for passes and the waiting room filled with spouses, parents, and noisy children. As two women across from Ashleigh exchanged graphic details of their recent hysterectomies, a well-mannered, well-groomed eight-year-old boy sitting next to the women, placed his feet together on the floor, folded

My Sister’s Substitute

My Sister’s Substitute

Irina sat down. Sasha sat beside her. The family waiting room on the third floor was small and beige and had chairs that were marginally better than the waiting room downstairs and a window that looked out at a parking structure which was not a view designed to comfort anyone but was what it was. They sat in it. Two chairs facing the door. The clock on the wall moved in the specific way clocks moved in waiting rooms — each minute taking considerably longer than sixty seconds to complete, as though time had been informed of the situation and had decided that urgency was not its problem.

The Bad Boy's Innocent Obsession

The Bad Boy's Innocent Obsession

Even more than their monthly payouts at the station. Shaking my head, I headed towards the back of the crowd where the waiting rooms were, deciding to wait until my turn. Leaning back against one of the chairs, I closed my eyes, folding my arms across my chest, and waited, the low hum of the motors outside almost lulling me back to sleep. Something I haven’t been having much of these past few weeks.

We both leaned inside, but the bed was still empty. A passing nurse paused. "Imaging's backed up today. You can wait in the room if you want. The waiting area's pretty full." "Thanks." Sheri dragged a chair from the hallway into the room and then pointed to the other one already there. "Sit down, hon. Your mom'll text me when she gets here."

(BOOK 2, SEQUEL TO RISKS OF LOVING YOU) Pains Of Loving You.

(BOOK 2, SEQUEL TO RISKS OF LOVING YOU) Pains Of Loving You.

(November 17th) Ben I sit in the waiting room at St. Joseph's Emergency Room. My left leg taps an impatient rhythm on the floor. I scan the room for the seventh time, mentally taking notes on each person in sight. I check the hallway leading to the exit. No one. I check the hallway behind the front desk. No one. But someone could be approaching, just out of view. I casually stand and walk toward the entrance to the ER, scanning for signs of anyone I might have come into contact with during my two

Reckless Renegades Merigold's Story

Reckless Renegades Merigold's Story

I walk in and the waiting room is packed and there are two people at the reception desk. I politely make my way through the people to get to the desk. I wait until Mrs. Cruz is done with her customer. Before I can ask her what is going on Thor comes out of the office. “ Merigold, glad you are here. There are people waiting to talk to you.” I immediately get concerned. Thor looks almost panicked. I go over to him. “ Thor, is there a problem?” He shakes his head “ No. There is no problem. You just have some people who want to talk to you.” He says pointing to the waiting room. I’m not sure what to think but I know I can’t keep these people waiting forever.

To be honest, mind blowing, unconventional but yet short and straight forward love story. One thing for sure, Marigold is such a bad ass chick and one hell lucky girl. Thanks author for the joyride! ...️

The twin Alpha and the Wolfless one

The twin Alpha and the Wolfless one

Pack members with minor injuries, a few wolves recovering from training, a woman with a child on her lap who looked up when we entered and then looked away with the practiced neutrality of someone who had received the same silent briefing as everyone else in this house. Sarah approached the intake desk. The woman behind it looked at me. Then at her clipboard. Then back at me with the expression of someone consulting an internal list and locating my name in the wrong column. "Take a seat," she said. "Someone will be with you." --- An hour passed. I tracked it by the light changing through the high windows and by the steady rotation of other patients — wolves who arrived after us, were called
