The air was crisp and clear as Elara walked through the city streets, her steps steady and sure. The early morning sun bathed everything in a soft golden light, casting long shadows that danced between the buildings. But for the first time in years, Elara didn’t feel like she was walking in anyone’s shadow. She had spent too long there—too long letting others define her, letting fear hold her back. Now, she walked freely, fully aware of the power she possessed within herself.

I don’t want anyone to see me like this. Yet, today something is different about it. Not only it was master of illusion, but no one can really saw the shadows the golden glow brings with it. No one can notice the fractures beneath my ribs, the tremors in my hands. It is just me, the sky and the burning light.

POV RUBY The air in the room felt like a physical weight, pressing down on my lungs until every breath was a conscious effort. Nevan’s hand was still a heavy, searing presence between my legs, pinning me to the reality of my own craving. I was torn open—not just by the jagged rip in my silk gown, but by the way he was looking at me. In the flickering amber glow of the dying fire, he didn't look at me like a victim. He didn't look at me with the clinical detachment of the professors I’d studied under. He looked at me like a mirror reflecting a truth I had spent years trying to bury.

Zoey “Do it!” “End her!” “Kill the fucking freak! Do it, Dex!” I manage to pry one of my eyes open, and the glow I sensed from behind my eyelids only gets brighter. I flinch away from it, which seems funny. Why am I flinching away from a glaring light when my entire body is wracked with agonizing pain? The moon has never been this bright, like a spotlight shining down on me. The light is beautiful and silvery, and the moon itself glows like a pearl up there.

I don't think that it can get any worse than that. But I am suffering from the worst case of writer's block, and I need a new story. The loud hum coming from the outdated laptop upsets me. It takes more than six minutes to load anything on this piece of scrap. But my blind excitement for my first book made it seem worth it. I was wrong. I wanted this book to stand out. In my mind, it was a groundbreaking novel that will start a new genre. It involves two people from two different religions falling in love. Instead, it came out as this lame, generic nonsense.

She stood up and with tears cascading on her both cheeks, she started walking towards the darkness, towards the shadows. But it was then that she was awakened by that moist thing crawling nervously on her body, feeding on her skin. She first felt it on her cheek, and then, it made a short trip to her nose, to her lips, then, it crawled slowly down to her neck and down to her breasts, then up to her neck again, and to her cheeks, touring like a slow train running inside a maze, unsure where to head but making her ticklish all over.

She stared at her reflection in the mirror and sighed. She then slowly opened the door and leaning against the wall, she peeked at Tom, she then immediately got back inside and shut the door behind her, the man was still there, "Why did I even make this annoying character?" She cursed herself as she paced again trying to think her way out. She then stopped and looked heavenwards, "You put me inside this novel, help me, will you?" She complained.
