By the second window, were two chairs and a round table. Shinja was rummaging the dressing table on the right side of the bed. There was within it combs, glowing hair strands and a few little creatures that had taken refuge in the confined space. It hadn't been that long since she came to this place, she thought to herself but the creatures had been quick to make the place their own.

I answer quickly. I was surprised when Shin suddenly smiled but I was even more surprised when he softly held my hand and carried me to the piled chairs here. Because there are chairs and tables here that look like they are no longer used and have just been piled up here. Shin wiped a chair with his coat then showed it to me to sit on. He also placed a table across from me and then another chair for him to sit on. “So?” I frowned. Shin pulled out a whole pad of yellow paper.

"We were told you were dead. Or worse—domesticated." I didn't look at her. I walked to the head of the table, my bare feet silent on the cold glass. I didn't wait for an invitation. I sat in the high-backed chair carved from the same black stone as the Spire. Jinyan stood behind me, his hand resting lightly on the back of my chair. To the Syndicates, it looked like a gesture of protection. To me, it was the grounding wire. His touch stabilized the raw power surging through me, allowing me to speak without the air in the room catching fire.
