Raven’s point of view. I was tied up in a dark room, with my hands and legs tried, and a gag put in my mouth. I scanned the room and saw four other girls like me, with our body covered with thin, transparent fabric. I gritted my teeth as I thought of how to free myself from the alpha of Blood Moon’s pack, but just then I heard footsteps approaching the room. “We must do as he says, if we ever want to end this war and get back our soldiers that he is holding captive.” A voice said.

He heard Mandy scream and a loud crashing sound before the sound of footsteps surrounding him. Cracking open an eyelid, Zen saw four figures standing in front of him like angels descended from heaven. Mandy’s dying scream in the background reminded him they were closer to devils than angels. “Woohoo!” the blonde sniper cheered. “Four minutes and fifty-eight seconds! We almost didn’t make it.” While Sasha and Oritha goofed around in celebration, Akiko and Liu Feng checked their rewards. Zen looked at his tier-two card and decided to keep it. Nobody else had any use for a battle NPC.

“The stronger the wolf, the more mates they can sustain bonds with. Four mates means you’re much more powerful than anyone knows.” Despite the indignation that coursed through me—having a fourth mate felt like a curse, not a blessing—part of me was curious about what this mysterious fourth mate might be like. Was he another cocky asshole like Lucas? Another brooding jerk like Rowan? Or something else entirely? But mostly, I just hoped I never ran into him.
