Maybe a little cold water would clear her head, make things clearer. Because the images from last night’s conversation were seared into her brain, she’d spent the morning alternately staring sightlessly out at the horizon and looking at the veterinary textbook she was supposed to be reviewing. She had exams this fall and being too prepared was impossible. Unfortunately, Cole made a far better bedtime story than animal anatomy. Right now, her dreams had nothing to do with the veterinary degree she was mere months from earning.

Then, I lay beside him once he was fully settled and comfortable. “Mommy, tell me a bedtime story,” “Now?” “Yes. It will help me sleep faster. Also, nobody has told me bedtime stories since you left…” ‘since I left to prison…’ I wanted to say it out loud but I didn’t. The tears I’d been holding accidentally fell out of my eye, and I sniffed discreetly. “Of course.” I cleared my throat and began. “Story, story, story time. There was a far, far away land, and a King ruled a nation known as Anthill, filled with so many people who called themselves Anthillians.”

"You know the rules. Bedtime is bedtime. And besides, they probably want to have some grown-up talk." "What do grown-ups talk about?" I think for a second, then grin down at him. "Taxes," I say. "And their boring, boring jobs." Brandon wrinkles his nose in distaste. "Ugh." "Yeah, it's terrible," I say with a mock sigh, "but you have to do it, when you're a grown-up. Luckily for you, you're still a kid. So we don't have to talk about mortgages, and instead, I get to tell you a bedtime story. How's that sound?"

"What story would you like to hear today?" Garret seemed to ponder for a moment before answering, "About Pinocchio?" Lyyana nodded and smiled. Lyyana then began to read a bedtime story from the book of 1001 bedtime stories. Lyyana was very good at reading stories; she played with her voice and tone, making Garret look so enthusiastic listening to the story she brought. Occasionally, Lyyana's storytelling was interrupted by Garret's questions. Without Lyyana realizing it, a man was recording Lyyana's activities and sending it to their superior.

I whispered with a loving smile, “Which story would you like tonight?” Mike’s face lit up with excitement, his tiny hands reaching for his favorite book. “The one about the brave little wolf, Mumma!” I chuckled as I opened the book, a captivating story about a young wolf’s rand adventure. Mike listened with rapt attention, his eager eyes fixed on the pages as I spun the tale of bravery and exploration. By the time I reached the part where the little wolf found solace under the silvery glow of the moon, my son was already fast asleep.

Brandon dismissed the nannies and told them he was going to put them to sleep. “Daddy, Please tell us a bedtime story,” Audrey said and Brandon nodded in response. He told them his favorite bedtime story, the magic prince and the werewolf girl. It was his favorite bedtime story when he was still a child, his mom always told him the story every night before he slept. Oh, he misses his mom so much. He wondered if she was still alive. He quickly shook off the thoughts, he had the feelings deep down that his mom was still alive and he was going to do anything in his power to find her.

Do they – “No,” Auden says, standing close and looking down at me. Then he laughs lightly, running his hand again through his hair. “I just – I don’t know, I’ve heard horror stories from parents about trying to put kids to bed and them just…screaming for hours. I think I…” he shrugs, “thought it would be harder than that.”

be says. "Plane crash?" I ask. "I don't remember much and trying to remember is giving me a headache right now," he says and holds his head. "Okay! Don't do. You don't have to remember the worst memories in your life. They are meant to be wiped off," I say as I press his head and try to calm him down. "What do want me to do? Should I sing a lullaby to you? Or maybe a bedtime stories?" I ask. "I am not a child, love. I don't think you should read a children bedtime stories for me. Yes, if its an adult story or some other songs then, I am obviously going to listen to it," he says and gets back to his bed position on his pillows.

A beautiful story, full of mysticism and feelings not forgotten. My eyes began to close themselves, I looked at the clock, and it was already 12 in midnight. “I’ll polish it up tomorrow,” I said to myself out loud. I got up, went over to the bed, and fell into a deep sleep. The daylight woke me up. I let out a long yawn, I was still very tired, and I still had to put some finishing touches on the story, so I decided to take a shower.
