Will fumed in annoyance "If you know you've been blocked then why bother using a different number? And who the hell is 'babe?!" He flung the phone back on the table as he let out a sigh. He hated dealing with situations like this, having a night with the agreement of no attachment always ends up working against him 'cause they all end up getting attached, just like the number on his phone. It's the fifth time he blocked him and he still wouldn't relent. The phone vibrated as a call came in and he peered down at it to see it was the same annoying number. He picked up the phone and cut off the call log then he went to his log and blocked out the number.

“That she is, baby.” I met Grandma Jo's eyes, and as I opened my mouth to speak, my phone buzzed on the coffee table. This was the tenth vibration, from the same unsaved number. I didn’t need to open it. I already knew. I actually stopped opening the text after the third one popped in, pretty much saying the exact same things the first two did. Why not just block it? The question made aroused some anger within me. Because why didn't I just block this number like I'd blocked Everett's other other means of contacting me?

Riley's Pov She saw everything today. We want nothing to do with you. I am blocking your number. I pressed send. The message was gone. I did not wait for a reply. I went into my phone’s settings. I found his number in my contacts. I scrolled down. I pressed the button that said ‘Block This Caller’. A message popped up. It asked if I was sure. I pressed ‘Yes’. It was done. A small, satisfying click in the universe. He was cut off.

I checked the block list and found my correct number there. "A, someone messed my number on your phone so you felt like you were calling me but it wasn't. B, I’m on your block list so you couldn't receive my calls." I showed him. He surely had called me a lot and I did too but we both were unable to get in touch with each other.

"I shouldn't contact him if we talked last night, right?" "Wow, you've got it bad. So bad that I'm doing this for your own good. HELL NO! Delete his phone number and when he does decide to stop being a lazy ass and man's up, you can say 'new phone, who dis?' since he's out of your contacts and out of your life. "Why are you shouting? The neighbors will hear." He clenched his fists, trying to control himself. I could see the veins in his neck tightening. "You blocked my number." "Yes." "You said you needed time to think. I gave you time. Then suddenly you blocked me!" "Yes," I repeated, still with the same smirk. "Don't just say 'yes'! Explain!" I shrugged. "What is there to explain? I just decided to cut off communication. That's my right, isn't it?" "Your right? I called you so many times. Forty-three times. Twenty-seven messages. I sent people here to check on you, but I didn't get any news!"

I hand the phone back and watch him navigate to my settings. “He’ll just get another number,” I say quietly. “You know he will. He’s not going to stop.” “Then I’ll block that one too,” Jeremy says without looking up from the screen. “Every single number he uses. I don’t care if it takes blocking a hundred different numbers.” He taps a few more times and hands the phone back. “There. It’s done.” I stare at my phone and feel my shoulders sag, what’s the point? because blocking a number doesn’t actually stop anything, doesn’t actually protect me, doesn’t change the fact that Ryan is out there somewhere planning his next move.

As an afterthought, I block the number and look at my phone, frowning as I wonder if he'll be able to use it to trap me or anything like that. I definitely don't want any contact with him any longer, though, so it's the exact reason why I blocked the number. And so, without any better thing to do, I step up into a space and wait for some kind of magical healing to occur. I want to be on a pity game. I want to be moving around seeking my precious revenge, but I know that I don't have the luxury to do that—not now, and I'm not going to get it for a long time after now.
