“You’re not going to call them, are you?’ I avoided his gaze and stared down at the pattern of the carpet. “Blair, I’m saying this as a doctor and hopefully, as a friend. Please, get the therapy for your shoulder as soon as possible. It might never heal fully because of how much time has passed, but you might be able to regain some more mobility with time.” I bit my lip. My shoulder was restricting me. I couldn’t afford to not be able to use my right arm properly. That wasn’t logical and, when possible, I tried to always use logic. I nodded slowly and Blake smiled, reminding me how good looking he actually was.

The pain sharpened, spreading through my shoulder, down my arm. My breathing stuttered. In. One, two. Out. One, two. Nothing changed. Nothing eased. My knees wobbled as I tried to steady myself. The world around me blurred. And the pain kept getting worse.

Oh, holy goddess. My left arm was fried. From my shoulder down to my fingernails was all black. My arm was a piece of meat left to roast for days over a grill. Heck, I couldn’t recognize my arm. It was charred and throbbing. Even lifting my finger brought the sharp bite of pain to my body. Do you know what that means, Mr. Vaughn?” I frowned. “If the angle had been a little deeper,” he continued calmly, “you could have severed major nerves controlling your arm and shoulder. You’re already at risk of partial nerve trauma from the blunt force alone.” I stilled. Rob gave a low whistle, folding his arms. “Translation? If you keep pulling this reckless crap, you’re gonna wake up one day unable to move half your arm.”

Pain flared sharply through me, sending a jolt of discomfort up my arm. “Are you nuts?” I shouted, my voice trembling with a mixture of anger and disbelief as I glared at him. But he didn’t even bother to look back. He sauntered off casually, leaving me seething in his wake. I cursed under my breath, my teeth clenched tightly as the sting of humiliation and pain lingered. No longer in the mood to flirt or do anything but curl into a ball and howl in agony, I tried to inspect the paralyzing intrusion that had punctured me, but when I looked down, my vision darkened at the corners. Dizziness ensued. My conscious brain flickered. “Ah, fuck,” I muttered when I finally caught sight of the long, thin shaft with a feathered end sticking out of my shoulder, right in the front tender, meaty area under my clavicle, in that empty space the rib cage didn’t cover.

Blood spurted from his left shoulder, splattering his face. If he hadn't turned his head quickly, the blade would have struck his head instead of his left shoulder! "Die!" Gerard looked crazed, gripped the short blade with both hands, and pressed it down hard. Austin couldn't help but gasp in pain. The agony from his left shoulder surpassed the pain of his entire body being cut by the razor floss earlier.
