A village had gone completely silent. Not destroyed. Not burned. Not evacuated. Silent. The grass didn’t rustle. The leaves didn’t fall. The birds didn’t fly. No voices. No animals. No wind. We arrived within the hour. And what we saw chilled me deeper than fire or death ever could.

I step back covering my ears and Trevor does the same, by the time the sound dies down, she's gone, it was only then it really dawned on me that the area is now more lit and you can hear the crickets and cicada’s, it was nothing but silence before *thud, thud* both warriors fall to the ground unconscious.

Even the whispers faded, replaced by a deep, frustrated hiss that echoed through the air… like something had just lost what it was looking for. For a brief moment— There was silence. But it wasn’t the kind that brought relief.
