"Look at me, Sadie. Now." I couldn't help but obey, meeting his intense gaze with my own. His eye gleamed with a piercing blue, demanding my full attention. As I stared into his eyes, I felt a strange calmness wash over me, my breathing slowing and my sobs subsiding. I was still crying, but it was more like an automatic response at this point. "Good," Silvio's voice remained stern. "Now, you're going to ride me—and you're going to push all that stuff out of your head. Do you understand me?"

She watched as the eyelid fluttered open, slowly, like a broken shutter pushed open by the wind. The eye beneath was bloodshot, heavy with sedation, but it focused, on her. They stared at each other. No words. No smiles. Just a locked silence so loud, it roared between them. She didn’t speak. Not yet. And neither did he. But as her fingers tightened around the edge of the clipboard she held, a slow, almost imperceptible curve formed on her lips. Not joy. Not relief. But knowing. Intention. She whispered low, barely audible, almost like an exhale. “Not yet…”

The delicate balance between curiosity and sensitivity was a line I treaded carefully. Tears gathered in her eyes, shimmering like fragile crystals as her gaze met mine in a poignant moment of silence. The unspoken emotions that danced within her gaze were complex, a tapestry of thoughts and memories that I could only begin to fathom. "I brought you here because it's my favourite place to come and just think." "But why me?" I asked in a tentative voice. "Why not?" We sat there in silence staring at the horizon as we were both lost in our own thoughts. I for one didn't understand why he brought me here. "How did you find this place?" I asked as I turned to face him. There was a long silence that followed and I began to think that he was not going to answer me when he turned and looked at me-like really looked at me. His forest green eyes held an emotion I've never seen on him before and I couldn't quite place my finger on what it was.

The water was clear enough for me to see every rock that covered the bottom of it, every color could be seen. "Subhanallah" I whispered as I heard birds chirping around me. The first time I talked my throat felt like sandpaper no one said a word when it came to my past, they knew it all from going through the journal that had been my only companion in the darkness I came from, I didn't say anything when Myra returned the journal to me with tears in her eyes and I looked away from the sympathetic gazes of my family.

The least I could do was obey a simple instruction. Clara I moved around the stranger after asking him to wait. I found my lamp and lit the wick. Light flooded the room, giving me a better look at the man. His eyes were stunning. They were a clear green, like the sun filtering through the leaves in summer. They made him even more handsome. There was something wrong, though. Those beautiful eyes were vacant, staring into the distance. I moved the lamp and his pupils remained unchanged. He didn’t follow the motion when I waved my hand in front of his face.

Only silence escaped me, smacking me hard across my face. Tears stormed down my face as I kept waving, hoping that he would see me before taking any rash step. I called him from the depths of my heart. “Cassian, please look at me.” Hoping for a miracle in the twenty-first century, I was pushing myself forward when all of a sudden, Cassian’s head snapped towards me as if my silent cry had reached his heart. His dark eyes locked into mine, and at that very instant, everything stopped. The shouting, the growls, even the air itself.

" He spoke sincerely, and for a moment, he was still the young boy that came begging me for forgiveness whenever he did something wrong. I held back the tears that were threatening to fall, immediately jerking my head aside to avoid looking at him. As my heart rate calmed, so did the atmosphere in the room. Scott entwined our fingers, holding my hand tight with one hand while using the other to cup the IV tube gently. "I know you're afraid of the cold, so I'll warm your drip up for you, alright? Don't be mad at me anymore and let me rest, alright? Just for a little while."

Her gentleness, her quiet resilience, that's what he fell for without realizing it. But as he looked into her clear, detached eyes, he could not bring himself to say a word. Because it was clear. She no longer cared about love or heartbreak.
