Clay nodded at my phone. “Hold your horses.” I rolled my eyes, pulling up the list. “Okay, the others in the cartoon movie were Slightly, Nibs, Chubby, and Twins.” I frowned, not liking any of those. “Ah, here we go. In Hook, there was also Ace. But that’s a no go since that’s my brother. Thud Butt is also a no. We aren’t insulting the puppies.” I shook my head. “Pockets could be cute. Don’t Ask, Too Small, Latchboy, and No Nap were the others. I don’t like those names.” I wrinkled my nose.

Brendon's smug expression, I knew that even she was well aware of it. Jones reluctantly stood up as he turned a few pages of the book in front. "Well, the title of the book is 'What stupid part of the stupid mistake made the God of stupidity stupid?'". Few people laughed at the back. "Oh how interesting, please keep going Mr. Wilson." Ms. Brendon announced. "W-well, the story is about a stupid king who was u-uh stupid enough to do an s-stupid mistake which was one of the stupidest things a stupid person could ever do."

Her voice grew a little hopeful. "Don't you want that?" "Hmm…" Lila hummed thoughtfully before suddenly lighting up. "What if we name her Sunny? Or Honey! Or Buttercup!" Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she listed the names one after another. Ivy, who had been watching quietly from behind, smiled warmly. "Those are beautiful names, Lila," she said, clearly impressed. "But tell me why those three?" Lila puffed her chest slightly, clearly pleased to explain.

The Little Mermaid popped out at me, as did The Emperor's New Clothes, but I thought maybe a story that people are foolish in public wouldn’t be the best choice. Then I looked around some more and picked up Floca’s Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11, Lewis’s The Wolf, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Dahl’s Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and a few others. I paused at the Harry Potter series, but while the girls were old enough, being werewolves, for the story, I knew the sizes of the books would put them off. Next year, I thought. They’d have handled textbooks by then and wouldn’t be so rapidly opposed to books an inch thick or more.

I didn't respond, just went silent. "Why are you being shy again? Are you sure you're not a turtle?" Soren teased. Unable to stop myself, I muttered, "You've called me silly goose and scaredy cat before, and now you're calling me a turtle. What's next? Anyway, can you stop giving me nicknames?"
