From the floor, Toby suddenly wanders over holding one of his dinosaur drawings. “Mommy.” “What?” He lifts the paper toward me proudly. “This one is the annoying man.” I blink and take the drawing automatically. It’s a dinosaur in a suit with tiny angry eyebrows. Malachi immediately loses his composure laughing while Lilith nearly falls off the couch again. Even I choke out a laugh before I can stop myself. Arthur hears the noise through the phone. “What happened?” I stare at the drawing for another second. Then against my better judgment, I take a picture and send it to him. There’s silence on the line for three full seconds.

so, do I look like a skeleton? “You said that my drawing is beautiful but why is your face like that Sis? Is my drawing ugly?” He asked, pouting his mouth. “No Nash, your good drawing just needs improvements. You’re young and you still have a lot to learn.” I explain. “Sis, do you know how to draw?” “I don’t know how to draw Nash. My drawings are just like yours. I can only draw skeletons too.” I said, and he laughed. “Sis, I have a question.”

For some people they draw what makes them happy. Thats it! I thought snapping my fingers. I looked back at Dina and said "Just draw what makes you happy." She clapped her hands and said "Good Idea!" then started drawing a picture and said "I'm glad I thought of it." "Im sorry come again? How was this your idea?"

Hearing her daughter's sugary voice, Michelle couldn't help but laugh. Michelle examined the drawings closely. Lizzy's skills were indeed advanced for her age, with vibrant colors and heartwarming scenes. Both drawings depicted "family", one a "larger family" and the other a "nuclear family". Lizzy's keen observation was evident in her detailed depictions: her baby sister with a pacifier, her mom with waist-length hair, her dad in a suit and tie, and herself with big, round eyes. In the other drawing, she'd used lighter shades for the grandparents' hair. While Michelle understood what Lizzy had drawn, she still playfully asked, "Wow, Lizzy, these are amazing! But what did you draw here?"

Perhaps seven years old. Dark hair. Gray eyes. Holding a stuffed rabbit. The drawing wasn't professionally done. The proportions were slightly wrong. The coloring imperfect. Yet it carried an unmistakable tenderness. Serena looked up. "You drew this?" Claire nodded. "When you were seven." She smiled sheepishly. "You didn't actually look like that." A small laugh escaped Serena despite herself. Claire's eyes glistened. "I drew you every birthday." Silence filled the room. Nobody moved.

"It's missing both ears." I watch as he picks up the stick this time and makes on the sand, two medium sized 'c's on both sides of the drawing. We both tilt our heads to the left at the same time and stare at the drawing on the sand. One of the eyes are way bigger than the other and the nose seems to be falling out of proportion, the shape of the head looks like that of an amoeba while the ears he just drew isn't fully connected to the face. "I think it's phenomenal," He says.

Craig mocked. “Did you just call this a game set?” Simon gasped in disbelief, pointing at Caleb's drawing. Overall, the boys knew they drew perfectly, but they all had the intention of joking in that manner. “I could draw a computer better than this when I was in kindergarten, bro. Eyesore. Eyesore.” He muttered and feigned barfing, which made them all eye him, their feigned disgust writing on their faces.

Matilda handed it directly to Sage. "Sandy drew this, Sage. Here, have a look." Sage nodded, accepted it, and unfolded it. It was a drawing of several water lilies, each with a different color but all full of life. "You did an amazing job, Sandy. I really like it," Sage said with a smile. "Thank you."
