Inability or unwillingness, I'm unsure which. Floating in and out of awareness, I fight like hell to regain my bearings when I hear Piper breaking down. I see her between the slits sobbing into her hands; my brother's arms are wrapped around her to keep her from sinking. Reaching toward her in an effort to comfort her, I start to fall.

"The bad energy is strong, but it will be gone soon. I promise." Shaken, I retreated. I couldn't fight her physically. I had to understand. I focused not on attacking, but on listening. I pushed my awareness towards her, past her polished surface. The flashes were jarring. Raw emotions, jagged images. A deep, bitter resentment towards our mother. A burning fury—she had been passed over, deemed unworthy of the Siren's legacy that flowed in our veins. And then, a hungry need—a vision of me, of Elara, our potential power swirling around us like a visible mist, something she desperately needed to grasp, to claim, to consume.

I wonder if it would be higher if it wasn’t near the cliffside. My mind kinda went blank as my vision was ensnared by the California shore that passed. It was early in the evening so the sun had just begun to set. The water sparkled and was an almost dark purple shade, which contrasted from the soft pink and golden oranges that swirled in the horizon. I saw some dolphins or seals jump out of the water in the distance. I smiled as it was like they were waving to me and welcoming me into their home.

My mind reeled. Was this the continuation of the previous picture? It looked like it. I looked back and forth documenting every single etch in the sand and they looked alike. What could this mean? was it possible for me to walk? To move beside Alex on land, without needing to be carried or hidden away? The thought sent a thrill through my body, making my skin vibrate with excitement. I looked around, searching for more answers. My fingers traced along the sand for more answers, The drawings depicted everyday life, hunting, decorating, even a small story of what seems like a mermaid fighting an orca.

She felt the blonde hover behind her, but she never once tore her gaze from the mural. "You drew these?" the older woman inquired. Serenity hummed and folded her arms. "Uhh...yeah" she scratched the back of her hair in nervousness. "It's something I drew when I was bored" she confessed. Hannah turned with a frown on her face. "Oh! Don't be modest now. These are wonderful" The older woman turned and traced her finger on the mural of the silhouette. "Mesmerising. I love the stars" she added.

She sat down on the chair and began to look at them. She felt her skin crawl as she looked at the drawings. They were of the same man. Tall. Thin. Faceless. With tentacles. But now they were not alone, on the sides were written letters. On one alone they said many NO. NO. NO. And on another was a sentence written: Don't look out the window.

She tried to call some of them back, but they were too focused on their drawings. Selene continued helping the kids. She drew a tiger for one boy and a unicorn for a little girl. The children cheered and showed their drawings to each other proudly. For the first time in a long time, Selene felt useful. She felt like she was doing something good.

Leonidas replied, striking a chord. "I know," She said, now returning the knife and taking up a paintbrush, moving it across the canvas now. "Have you ever thought that there are possibly some sirens that do not want all the ships that crossed their paths to sink? Perhaps, that they would rather talk to this sailors instead of causing their doom?" Leonidas played another note now, his face looking solemn.
