Slap! Two hard, bone-jarring slaps cracked through the air before Caleb could even finish his sentence. The sound echoed against the stone walls like thunder. The first hit sent his head snapping to the side, the sting burning instantly across his cheek. The second came so fast it knocked the breath out of him, and he staggered backward, barely catching himself before crashing into a pillar.
