"For the twins. And for you." He began unpacking the bags with careful movements. The first item was a pair of impossibly small, hand-knitted blankets—one blue with silver threads, the other a soft grey. "These are from a small village in Switzerland," he explained, placing them on the bed for me to touch. "The silver threads are actually real silver, woven with cashmere. They say they bring protection to newborns." The blankets were exquisite, unlike anything I'd ever seen. "They're beautiful," I whispered, running my fingers over the delicate fabric.

“Thanks, pass me a blanket from the bag.” Sathe did so, picking out the first blanket he found and handing it to her. It was a grey blanket, fluffy and thick; perfect for the night. She took it, shuffling to the top of the bed so she could rest her head on one of the two pillows, covered by the pillow cases she had shoved them in. She looked towards Sathe who stood by the bed watching her, opening her arms out to him. “Come here, puppy.” Sathe hesitated for a second before climbing onto the bed and into the warmth of her arms.

A cloak lined with fur. Real fur. Not cheap. Not rushed. Made for me. I hold the cloak against my cheek. Why is he doing this? He bought me like property. He locked me in this room. He assigned a guard to watch my every move. And now he sends me warm food and soft clothes and a blanket for the cold nights. I do not understand him. I do not understand any of this. The blanket is heavy. I spread it across my bed. The wool is thick. The color is deep blue. Like the sky just before dawn.

The paper falls away revealing my gift. "It's beautiful," she sighs as she wraps the red hooded cape around her shoulders. It is made of a fine wool of the brightest red, lined with a gray-blue satin, and embroidered with the phases of the moon in a thread that perfectly matches the color of her gray-blue eyes. "And warm. Thank you." "The wool will repel moisture and light rain, and the silk satin will keep you warm," I explain as I help her. "It will keep you comfortable, and visible, on our hike tomorrow morning...that is, if you still want to go."

She nodded. "Don't worry, everything is sterilized. We get a new shipment of almost every tangible thing in this room once a month, you know, as this is an interactive exhibit. Although, not a lot of people find their way into this room." She explained, walking towards me. As my hand came into contact with the cold material of one of the leather objects, I took it off the rack to further examine. "These are floggers. They're used during something called impact play where the dominant whips their submissive with the lashes." She chimed, running her fingers through the lashes of the flogger made out of rope.

The room is instantly plunged into darkness, save for the faint glow of the moon filtering through the curtains. With the absence of light, my senses heighten, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the cocoon of warmth and comfort that surrounds me. The blankets, like a protective shield, wrap around my body, molding to every curve and contour. The familiar scent of freshly laundered fabric fills the air, creating a soothing atmosphere that lulls me into a state of tranquility.

Chloe gently tucked the soft, knitted blanket around Ember’s shoulders, smoothing it with care as she ensured every inch was enveloped in warmth. The room was bathed in a soft, inviting pink glow—walls painted in a warm blush that resembled a summer sunset, with fairy lights twinkling above like a starlit sky, casting playful shadows that danced across the walls. Shelves adorned with a cherished collection of books and whimsical miniature dragons dressed in colourful tutus were artfully arranged, creating a magical atmosphere that belonged entirely to Ember. It was her sanctuary—a haven that was both safe and beautiful, where every detail whispered a sense of belonging.

“I don’t need anything to buy, though. Just being out here feels like enough after everything.” He chuckled lightly, his gaze sweeping over the street food stalls. “Come on, Mira, let’s find something special to eat,” he said in a warm tone. “You’ve been staying within the walls for too long. A little market magic might help you loosen up a bit.” We moved toward a stall piled with colorful fabrics and crafts, and Elias halted suddenly. The vendor was holding up a soft blanket embroidered with tiny wolves as she bowed down in front of him. “Alpha,” the woman was already in her late sixties. “These are specially woven by me. Please buy some if you like.”

It looks heavy and while I used to find the layers annoying, on her they’ll just be more of a present to unwrap. My fingers wander over the material, amazed at how perfectly it was sewn. The back has the absolute look of a corset, but I can tell by how easily she’s breathing it isn’t a real one. “Honey you forgot this,” I hear and turn to see the Luna with a heavy white shawl. It’s made of rabbit fur and it's like a cloud. I nod in approval, because it is rather chilly this evening. I help her into it, and Peneople leads us to where pictures are being taken. The annoying process goes on far longer than I’d like, especially when everyone wants a picture with Harlow.

Ponjie blocked the view and huddled closer with the other two. What greeted these adventurous students made their eyes fall off their sockets. It was an ugly little wolf, blind and bleeding. Their heartbeats sped and sweat rolled off their temples. The facility was not so cold after all.
