Lights blazed in the sconces, driving the dark away as I went deeper in. The furniture was odd, with carvings of dragons as well as star constellations I had not noticed before. Dragons in a circle surrounded a broken crown hung above flames, the implication oppressively uncomfortable in my chest. When I went up the second floor, the panel swung open to my room. Warmer, as well as the comfort of the familiar, but shocking in size. The four-postered bed, made of what looked like petrified wood, had bedding in every imaginable shade of ember red to smoky gray. A corner desk had new parchment along with magic quills, and shelves were lined high with ancient, blank tomes to be inscribed.

And gasped. It wasn’t a dorm. It was a godsdamned luxury apartment. Black velvet furniture. Gothic arches. Chandeliers of obsidian and glowing quartz. A four poster bed with dark silk sheets. Floating shelves lined with ancient books and shadow lit candles. Off to the right was a door that led to a beautiful bathroom, and there was even the cutest kitchenette with a mini stove, microwave and fridge. It looked like a vampire heiress and a witch queen shared an interior designer and said “go wild.” “Maybe the room just… knows,” I whispered in awe. Zephyr did say the school was alive. A white fur rug lay beneath it. The bed was large with carved wooden posts and a soft lilac canopy. The sheets were layered in shades of grey and purple, adorned with fluffy pillows and a warm quilt bearing an unfamiliar pack’s crest. Across the room, a wide wardrobe displayed gowns, cloaks, and crowns—some gold, some silver, and some made from antlers. A line of boots and shoes sat neatly by the wall, ranging from soft slippers to sharp-heeled boots. The air carried scents of jasmine and wood. A few rings, necklaces, and a note lay on the dresser.

The suite was dimly lit by a single amber lamp on the bedside table, casting long, sinister shadows across the plush cream carpets, the velvet drapery, and the massive king-sized bed dominating the center of the room. The bed is a large four-poster wooden bed with white drapes hanging down. The bedding is gold in colour and made from the finest silk. Many elegant tapestries decorate the walls with stunning banners. My favourite is the large one of a wolf and a Lycan. 'This is our room,' I say to her. I’m thrilled she loves our chambers.
