Linda plopped on the recliner.

Linda’s POV My heart skipped a beat, a cold fear gripping me as I realized something was terribly wrong. Panic surged within me, but I tried to keep my voice steady. “What do you mean, you lied?” I demanded, my voice trembling despite my efforts to remain calm. Dr. Adam’s smile faded, replaced by a chilling expression that sent shivers down my spine. “You, Linda,” He said softly, his ice blue eyes locking onto mine with unsettling intensity, “You’re not going to another room as you already can tell, you’re going to a little place called ‘Pay Back’.”

On the morning of the next day. When Laura and Chris got out of bed, Linda had already prepared breakfast and had come back from a morning walk. Elders would normally sleep early at night and wake up earlier in the morning. After the three of them finished breakfast, Linda decided to go to the convenience store with Laura, because Laura wouldn't come home for lunch. After arriving at the convenience store, Laura introduced Shannon to Linda. Shannon was a sweet girl and very talkative. She was able to get along with Madam Jacobs in the past and Linda was no exception.

As she deftly steered the car with her knee, Linda reached into her purse and tossed him a Snickers, never missing a beat in her story. It was late, so the ancient place was of course, closed. Linda objected to leaving him there, but the truth was that for the entire ten miles, after she’d finished with the police, she hadn’t stopped talking. She was nice, but he wasn’t in the mood. Plus Kat had disappeared and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was driving him fucking crazy.

“Stella, your best friend right? Tavon said she was a loudmouth but I never believed him or saw her as a problem. She’s still composed and elegant in her trimmed coat of silver fur. “My goodness, Stacy,” she breathes, her voice soft with disbelief. “So, Jason was right. You are alive after all these years.”

“Nothing. I was just—” Linda’s hand slammed against the table, cutting her off. “Don’t play dumb with me!” she snapped, her tone venomous. “You’ve been hovering like a rat all morning. What are you trying to see?” Monica swallowed, keeping her face neutral. “I was only checking if you needed anything.” Linda let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “Oh, please. Spare me the act.” She took a step closer, her presence suffocating. “You think I don’t notice when you spy on me? When you peek at my phone like some nosy little servant?”

Linda always found a way to get me out of a funk. Linda told Luther, the bartender, "Let my friend Monica sit behind the bar. Do not let anyone bother her. When am I up, Luther?" "I got your girl Linda. You're up next. Good crowd, they're giving money away." "Good to know. Monica, watch and learn."
