Linda’s POV My heart skipped a beat, a cold fear gripping me as I realized something was terribly wrong. Panic surged within me, but I tried to keep my voice steady. “What do you mean, you lied?” I demanded, my voice trembling despite my efforts to remain calm. Dr. Adam’s smile faded, replaced by a chilling expression that sent shivers down my spine. “You, Linda,” He said softly, his ice blue eyes locking onto mine with unsettling intensity, “You’re not going to another room as you already can tell, you’re going to a little place called ‘Pay Back’.”

On the morning of the next day. When Laura and Chris got out of bed, Linda had already prepared breakfast and had come back from a morning walk. Elders would normally sleep early at night and wake up earlier in the morning. After the three of them finished breakfast, Linda decided to go to the convenience store with Laura, because Laura wouldn't come home for lunch. After arriving at the convenience store, Laura introduced Shannon to Linda. Shannon was a sweet girl and very talkative. She was able to get along with Madam Jacobs in the past and Linda was no exception.

From what I've heard though, she's nice. ''That's Mindy Louve. She's alright and, she does gymnastics. She's friends with Linda you know,'' I said to him turning back around. Linda was one of the many girls Zack has dated in the past. Their relationship, however, ended very poorly, Linda ended up moving to a different school because she couldn't focus on anything but him and was going basically insane from it, that's what the rumours say at least. I wouldn't know, I try not to interact with Zack's conquests since most times they were threatened by my friendship with him.

As she deftly steered the car with her knee, Linda reached into her purse and tossed him a Snickers, never missing a beat in her story. Life would never cease to amaze him. *** At the next city, Danny climbed out at BOB’S GARAGE, an old mechanic’s shop dimly lit from the inside. It was late, so the ancient place was of course, closed. Linda objected to leaving him there, but the truth was that for the entire ten miles, after she’d finished with the police, she hadn’t stopped talking. She was nice, but he wasn’t in the mood. Plus Kat had disappeared and he couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was driving him fucking crazy.

“Stella, your best friend right? Tavon said she was a loudmouth but I never believed him or saw her as a problem. The one who thinks black eyeliner makes her a badass, again, never thought she was a problem?” I smiled thinly. “Stella’s a lot more than that.” I didn’t say it, but it rang in my head: She’s a hacker, Linda. A damn good one. She found Carter. She found your location. She found you. Linda didn’t speak for a moment. Just stared at the envelope, then back at me. “You’re smarter than I gave you credit for,” she said finally. “I’m not here to play games, Linda. I'm here to end this before anyone else gets hurt. Take the money. Disappear. That’s your last chance.”

Luna Linda. What is she doing here? My heart skips a beat as I tense. Daniel notices me immediately. “Say the words and I’ll get rid of her.” “No,” I say quickly, my voice softer than expected. “It’s okay.” I step forward slowly, each movement careful, and cautious. I haven’t seen Linda in years. But she hasn’t changed much. She’s still composed and elegant in her trimmed coat of silver fur. “My goodness, Stacy,” she breathes, her voice soft with disbelief. “So, Jason was right. You are alive after all these years.”

“Nothing. I was just—” Linda’s hand slammed against the table, cutting her off. “Don’t play dumb with me!” she snapped, her tone venomous. “You’ve been hovering like a rat all morning. What are you trying to see?” Monica swallowed, keeping her face neutral. “I was only checking if you needed anything.” Linda let out a sharp, bitter laugh. “Oh, please. Spare me the act.” She took a step closer, her presence suffocating. “You think I don’t notice when you spy on me? When you peek at my phone like some nosy little servant?”

Which meant she was effectively Liam's aunt? Linda felt her scalp go numb. Earlier, she'd barely acknowledged Mrs. Stallon's existence. She'd assumed she was just another guest. And now she discovered that Navia had somehow become friendly with one of the most unexpectedly important people in the room. How? When? Forcing a smile onto her face, Linda stammered, "A-Aunt Clara..." Mrs. Stallon glanced at Linda. The moment she remembered the expression Linda had worn earlier, her face cooled. "So it was true?"
