Orlando and I had been together for ten years. I'd looked after his sick mom, sweating out a fever of my own, and where was he? Knocking back drinks with Rosalind, playing therapist to her broken heart. I swallowed my pride at work, getting chewed out by my boss, while he spent the night companying Rosalind because she had cramps. Then, when I got the news my mom had passed, I tried calling him, desperate for support. But nope—phone off. After a wild goose chase, turns out he was at Rosalind's graduation. That was it. I gave up. But Orlando wouldn't let go. Red-eyed, he begged me for just one more chance.

A little deeper. And that was it. Roman broke.

Georgia’s POV The banging on the door was so loud it shook the walls. I froze mid-step, my coffee cup slipping from my hand and breaking on the marble floor. My heart thudded so hard I could hear it in my ears. “Open up! Police!” The words cut through the air like a blade. I swallowed hard, muttering to myself, No… this can’t be happening. Not now. When the door burst open, men in dark uniforms stormed in, their faces stone cold. They surrounded me before I could even breathe.

His voice is soft and full of wonderful promises, but he's clueless on what he's volunteering himself for when it comes to Emma. ... Boredom kicks itself into high gear about two hours later as I contemplate counting the number of speckles on my apartment's tiled ceiling. I'm not great at sitting still and doing nothing, which is what a serious sprain requires you to do. Thankfully, the doctors promised it at least wasn't a break. But a sprain is still a sprain, and until I'm able to get around better without searing pain shooting up my leg, I'm on desk duty.

I quickly stepped forward and helped her up. "Sarah and I are divorced. The past is in the past. There's no need to dwell on it any longer."

Adrian asked, his hands pausing on his laces. "Let me see your left foot." Ethan gently gripped the toe of Adrian's boot, tilting it toward the harsh fluorescent light. He pointed to the structural seam. "Look at this. The locking mechanism is completely loose. If you take a hard turn on the ice, this blade is going to snap right out of the holder." Adrian’s eyes narrowed. He reached down and gave the steel runner a firm tug. With a sickening click, the blade wobbled loosely in his hand. If he had stepped onto the ice, his ankle would have snapped the moment he crossed the blue line.

My dream opened the floodgates and memories pouring in, washing over me, drowning me. Down for months, I missed everything, including seven surgeries to fix my body, and I would need more in the months to come. The doctor came in, but I only caught some of what he said. Tibia and femur displaced fractures, which accounted for the brace. Apparently, I got a knee replacement as well as plates and screws to hold all the broken pieces of bone in my leg together while they healed. Basically, my leg was fucked, and even they weren’t sure if it was going to heal right.

"I can't lose them Sarah, it would break me, break me more than I already am." We just stood there, in the cold as she held me, rubbing my back comfortly. "I feel broken too. The day I came here, wasn't my first stop. I went home to surprise my fiancee. I was the one surprised. She was sleeping with my best friend while I was away on tour. I walked in on them in our bed and she was pregnant with his child. It's why I'm afraid to make a move with Jamie. I feel if we start something..." she chokes in broken sobs and I couldn't blame her.

The group and I were now at the coffee house because nobody had plans after school. We were sitting in a round booth but Leo, Jade, Luke and I had somewhat formed our own little group isolated from the rest. "They're a lot worse than you might expect." Jade said, nodding. She had a disgusted look on her face as she started to tell me about the Herbrooke guys. "At the last Grove versus Herbrooke game, they purposely kicked Kai in the face and broke his noes." "What the fuck?" I exhaled. "They had to get eliminated, right?"
