Locked Out of Warmth

Locked Out of Warmth

All I could do was lie dying on the scorching floor and listen. The fire captain's voice outside sounded familiar. It seemed to be Daniel Mercer, Dad's closest friend. "Are we certain this is the address? Micah has to be in trouble. Damn it, why is the front door locked?" "We don't have time, Captain! Whoever is inside is fading fast. We need to break through now!" Daniel's voice was grave. "Cutting through the security door could take too long. I'll call Richard and get the key." "Richard, where is the emergency key to your estate? Tell me now. Your boy called 911. He's trapped in the sauna and close to death!"

Vows of Graphite and Guilt

Vows of Graphite and Guilt

"If the progress bar hits 100%, Dominic has absolute control over the physical security of that facility." "We have to stop it," Clara said, her fingers flying across the terminal's keyboard. "But if I force a hard shutdown, the system's backup will automatically lock the keys inside a dead-loop. We’ll be locked out forever." Julian walked up behind her, his shadow swallowing the console. He reached out with his left hand, his thumb resting gently against her temple.

The Glass Contract - His Captive Bride

The Glass Contract - His Captive Bride

The crystal shattered, but the impact bent the tamper-seal just enough to expose the locking pin. Grace reached into her pocket and pulled out the small, thin tension wrench she had slipped from her locksmith kit hours ago, before Elias's men had confiscated her bag. She jammed the hardened steel wrench into the pin loop, twisting it with a frantic, desperate torque.

HIS REJECTED GODDESS

HIS REJECTED GODDESS

Zane looked at Elias. "No one holds a single key," Zane said. "A single point of access is a structural flaw. You build a lock that requires three keys. The Anchor holds one. The Grand Architect holds one. And the Commander of the Infantry holds one. The vault only opens if the center, the methodology, and the defense agree that the world is ending." Elias nodded slowly. The elegant, structural mathematics of the lock appealed to his dispute-resolver mind. It required consensus. It prevented tyranny.

The Last Alpha’s Mate

The Last Alpha’s Mate

Suddenly, a cold wind blew and my human knees throbbed from the cold, reminding me that my body no longer repaired its joints with the speed of an Alpha wolf. I ignored the dull ache and moved up the rocky creek. We reached the drainage structure ten minutes later. A massive iron grate blocked the tunnel mouth, secured by a heavy digital padlock that glowed with a faint red indicator light. Damon pulled a small electronic bypass device from his pouch and pressed the copper leads against the lock's external circuit board. "This will take about four minutes. Linda, cover the ridge." I leaned against the wet concrete wall. The air smelled of chlorine and industrial detergents… a scent that imme

The Debt Collector's Price

The Debt Collector's Price

I attempt a handshake, a basic protocol ping to test the waters, but the system is locked down behind DES encryption and a 56-bit key. It is 1990s security, ancient by modern standards but robust enough to hold if you don't have the key. It follows the same paranoid logic as the Sub-Level 5 vault—analog security and pre-digital forensics. I pull up a decryption tool on my phone and set it to run brute force attempts against the lock, the processor eating through my remaining power. Battery: 9%. I shove the phone back into my pocket to conserve every electron, knowing I’ll need them once we’re inside.

My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce

My Reborn Apocalypse Begins with a Divorce

Larry started picking the lock. He really was a professional. It took him barely thirty seconds to get it open. The only reason he couldn't get Ray's lock open before was because Ray had spent eight million on renovations, with a single requirement: absolute solidity, impossible to destroy. If a door like that could be popped open by an ordinary locksmith in a couple of moves, then even if hail were falling from the sky, Ray would still hunt down Noel and kill him. The moment the lock gave way, six people rushed inside.

System Of Blood: To Crave Survival

System Of Blood: To Crave Survival

The walls were older here, carved from natural stone rather than reinforced with modern materials. Subject Zero Containment was at the end of a long hallway. The door was sealed with a lock I didn't recognize, not electronic, not biometric, but something older. A puzzle lock that required specific manipulation of mechanical tumblers in a sequence only someone with detailed knowledge would understand. I spent fifteen minutes working on it before admitting I didn't have the skill. But Eugene's elimination device did have a discharge function. If I could overload the locking mechanism... I fired a controlled burst at the lock. The metal glowed red, the tumblers fused, and the door swung open.

Trapped Between Two Alphas

Trapped Between Two Alphas

I asked him. "It can get missing and we normally don't have spare keys for each cell. Although it's safer this way, the keys are well stuck and to remove it, I have to undo this metallic locker which is hardly joined together to give a firm rock hard protection of losing the keys" he replied pointing at the metallic locker that was on the foamy stuff attached to his waist belt. "So what can I do for you?"

also the names! Its ok, id probably pay tribute as well if I were writing myself. I will say its a tad weird that I'm seeing their faces and hearing their accents, though. I usually fill in those details for myself as I read. except I think the "Original" Rebekah suits this character well. ...

Just my wondering how can you call this trap between Alpha‘s when going into book two Elijah is no longer mentioned? what I’m reading, she is with Cole and Caden doesn’t appear to be an alpha? When I first started reading it based on the title I was expecting Elijah Kol and Kat to end up together.
