I sat back and read what I had. Twenty-two pages. The longest single session of the book. I closed the laptop and went to find Damien. He was at the desk in the corner. "Done," I said. He looked up. "How many pages," he said. "Twenty-two." He looked at me for a moment. "What happened in them," he said. I sat on the couch. "She decides to stay," I said. "In the house." "Yes. But not because it keeps her. Because she decides to keep it." I paused. "That's the shift. She stops waiting for the house to do something and starts doing something herself."

Hannah couldn't believe her ears and asked, "Ry, are you saying you're not divorcing Gabriella? You don't want me anymore?" "When I agreed to be with Gabriella at my grandfather's request, I told you it might not be the outcome you wanted. If you go abroad, I'll make sure you're well taken care of. If you stay here, I'll help your career thrive." With tears in her eyes, Hannah said, "I don't need all that. I just want you to stay with me. You promised to take care of me forever. Have you forgotten?" "You were the one who rejected me first."

Patricia POV I opened my eyes, and I was back to the real world, I felt a slight headache, I managed to sit up, peering around, to remember where I was, the memory from last night vanished, I only managed to grab some, before they disappeared, while I managed to rearrange the little of the memory I had left, I saw Morris walk into the sitting room, he wore a black shirt that fit into his masculine figure so perfectly, my eyes couldn’t help but notice the visible contours on his chest, PS: even with the shirt. It was as if he was made for the shirt, and the shirt made for him. He definitely wouldn't look out of place in a fashion magazine.

Some words were meant to fade, not stay. Later that night, he went for a walk along the boardwalk. A small bookstore had left its lights on, so he stepped inside. It was quiet only the faint sound of pages turning. He ran his fingers along the spines until he found it her book. “The Quiet Between Us.” He’d read it before publication, but seeing it here, on a shelf, felt different. Realer. He opened to the dedication page. “For the ones who taught me how to leave and the one who taught me how to stay.”

Silence stretched between us, thick and warm and way too intimate for people who were supposed to hate each other. “You’re still awake,” I said softly. I didn’t get a response but he opened his eyes and held my gaze. His unrelenting look made my pulse stumble. I closed the book. “Can I go back to my room now, or are you planning to keep me here forever?” I probably shouldn't be giving her ideas. “Stay.” The sincerity in that single word shook me. For once, I had no clever comeback. I stayed.

##Chapter 22: Cassidy Book One: Stay I inhale a deep breath and squeeze my eyes shut again. I'm irritated at myself for allowing all this garbage back inside my head. Maybe I disappointed my family, but they let me down me too. When I needed them to stand by me, they'd taken the easy way out and shipped me off, leaving me to deal with the fallout by myself. My eyelids fly open when Cole wraps his arms around my shoulders and pulls me against his hard body. He doesn't ask any questions. He simply holds me until I'm strong enough to move forward again. I don't understand what it is about Cole that makes me feel so safe.

Aiys decided to take a short break to sit down with the newspaper, Aiys leaned his head against the cupboard. It was as if the wardrobe was ready to accept all the outpouring of her heart. Only a few more generations, let's be excited. Aiys gets up and returns to compile the book that Aiys will move.
