An Affair with the Alpha
“She doesn’t think your dad is telling the truth about your mum.”
The hairs on the back of my neck stood up. “I don’t see why he’d lie.”
“Me either. And I just…”
I leant forward, resting my hand on his knee. “You can tell me,” I murmured, looking up at him through my lashes.
‘Yes, queen!’ cried Dolly. ‘I love what you’re doing. You’ve got him right where we want him.’
And, for some reason, Stephen met my gaze with sincerity bleeding into his brown eyes. He looked like he could tell me and, sure enough, he started to open up. “Even if he was lying, I don’t see why it matters. Not today, anyway.”
