My heart sank even further when one of the men grabbed Nat, dragging her forward with rough hands. She struggled, but there was nothing she could do. The man shoved her to the ground in front of Steve.
And then Steve’s cold voice rang out, clear and unforgiving. “Get up,” he ordered Nat, his eyes locked on her. “Come here.”
Nat stumbled to her feet, fear flashing in her eyes, but she didn’t make a sound. My heart ached seeing her like this—broken, scared. She didn’t deserve any of this.
