Almost blinding me. ‘Alpha… they’re coming.’ Kelan’s voice slices through the mind link. He’s perched on the ridge above, other scouts at his side. Luke lifts a fist and halts the others. ‘Are they morphed?’ I ask, scanning the black around me. Shapes lurk. Predators hiding in the storm. ‘Not morphed, Alpha.’ Good. ‘We wait,’ I command. And then I hear Simon, stepping into the rain with his warriors. Lightning burns the sky and his face is carved in white light. Hate radiates from him, thick as the storm.

Thorne’s warriors, hardened from years of rogue survival, fought with brutal efficiency. They moved with Shadowstorm’s warriors, back-to-back, blades and claws, no longer rogues—pack. Kael slipped through the chaos like smoke, daggers flickering in the dark, ending threats before they reached the barricades. Luca moved with calm control, issuing sharp orders, rallying warriors who staggered, forming lines again where they faltered, his blade cutting down any who slipped through.

They were alphas, betas, and omegas who had been rejected by their birth packs, criminals who had survived the brutal winter wilderness, and veterans of forgotten border wars. They didn't wear uniforms; they wore heavy furs, iron chains, and leather straps over bodies covered in jagged claw scars. They were savage, and radiated a volatile pressure.

"Hey! That's my toy!" I watch as the kid cries for her toy, being bullied by older kids. I stood up from the roof and walked away, I hate seeing such scenarios. I walked towards the Grymkin's forest, my clan's forest, this is where my clan moved after someone had spread a hideous rumor about us, which is true. Our clan controls fire. The kingdom has given us the title of "Grymkin's Protector" when in fact we can burn this forest down into ashes.

Minahil sniggered whilst turning to face Yara. "I have bought the whole team," she declared making Yara gasp loudly. "That Gora and his brown friend alone cannot win this game!" "Today I'll see the ashamed face of that Abraham fucking Chauhdry!" Yara was about to say something when her voice was cut short by deafening noise. "Abraham! Abraham!" There erupted loud yells of his name. Minahil looked to the front and her jaw clenched fiercely. Abraham was raised in the air by the wild spectators and his followers.

Melvin whispered, "You can lean on me. If it really hurts, tell me. We can pause the ceremony for a moment. Your safety comes first." I nodded. However, the thought of letting Mom witness a perfect wedding had already taken root in my mind. So even as sharp pain shot through my ankle, I forced myself to keep walking through the ceremony without showing a hint of discomfort. By the time Philip stormed into the venue, the ceremony was practically over. Dad had already taken Mom to go get some rest. The remaining guests were just a few friends who were helping to clean up the venue. I was sitting nearby while Melvin carefully applied an ointment to my ankle.

No matter what Orion projected or tried to get me to feel, it wouldn’t have any effect. I watch as Orion stands next to Jasper, dressed only in shorts as well. One day I will be part of CLAW, and I’ll be responsible for making sure the packs in our territory are obeying the rules. We might be at peace, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t ready for war. Every in the conservative territory has been training soldiers, building weapons, gathering supplies, and trying to make as much money as possible. We already have our own factories, but others have been working with neutral parties like this guy, Rain, to make sure we have enough funds for when something happens. It's a weird fucking name for a businessman, but I can’t really say anything since I’m called Storm.
