"It's almost here." Celeste's head snapped up, her panic shifting into urgency. She flipped through the pages of her book, her voice trembling as she whispered incantations under her breath. "No, no, no," she muttered, the words spilling from her lips like a mantra. "It can't be here now. We are supposed to have two hours at least." I moved to the window, my steps awkward and lumbering in this unfamiliar form. The storm was worse than before. The black cloud rolled toward us like a living thing, its edges crackling with lightning. The rain hammered against the glass, drowning out the sound of my ragged breathing.

Morning in Dawson’s house has learned how to be gentle, but it still walks on tiptoe. The sun comes through the blinds in thin pale strips and lands across the bed like quiet warnings. Dawson wakes with a careful inhale, like his ribs are a door he has to open slowly so the hinges don’t scream. He doesn’t complain, not out loud. He just goes still for a second and lets pain pass through him the way he was taught to let weather pass: by refusing to fight the sky.

This is the second in the insanity Series dealing with the Watson's and the two characters of Max and Deanna. The third will be released in November of 2020. The name of it is Breaking the eye wall. It continues shortly after where Weathering the storm leaves off. A tie in series will be released in December called "The nightmare begins." This story though fictionalized did happen in the US in late 2019. The charaters will be along or the journey in Breaking the eye wall but they will have their own series called "Nightmare". This is the first book in that series.

That indifference chilled her more than the storm outside. The sky grew darker, clouds swirling like ink over the horizon. A low rumble of thunder followed by a sudden downpour made the world blur outside the window. The rain came fast and hard, lashing against the glass in furious streaks. Elena’s chest tightened; stormy weather always dragged her back—to that night. The night her body was broken. The night her child was taken from her. In the cramped car, every drop of rain seemed to echo her heartbeat—loud, panicked, and full of pain. She turned toward Damien, voice trembling between fear and fury.

Olivia's lips curled into a sneering smirk as she spoke, her eyes glinting with malice as they met Cathleen's. "Of course, Miss Williams." The gentle cadence of Cathleen's voice was quickly drowned out by the ominous rumble of thunder outside, a telltale sign of an approaching storm. The dark clouds loomed in the sky, threatening to unleash their fury at any moment. The wind picked up, rustling through the trees and sending leaves scurrying across the ground. A sense of foreboding filled the air as if nature itself was anticipating the storm's arrival.

A shiver racked through my body. Once we entered into the warmth of our cabin, Aiden pulled away as my touch burned him. He stalked closer to the chair, slumping down. Meanwhile, I stared at the doors rattling against the wall, window glasses shaking with the intensity of the storm outside. The fireplace was not going to work, and the lights went off as well. Never in my life had I experienced something of this kind.
