I thought of Ezra, standing at that podium two days ago, refusing to be rushed by anyone else's timeline.
"All right," I said finally, closing the folder with a decisiveness that surprised even me. "Let's do it. But Grant, I want to write it myself. Every word. If this is going to be my story, in my own voice, I'm not handing it to anyone else to draft first."
Something like real respect crossed Grant's face. "I'd expect nothing less."
