Study Guide The Chosen Novels & Stories

“If I was really ‘selected’… then what am I?” Zayden didn’t answer immediately. He looked at her for a long time. Not like a billionaire. Not like a man in control. But like someone trying to understand something human inside chaos. Then he said quietly “I don’t think you were chosen because of what you are.” A pause. “I think you were chosen because of what happens around you.” Lena frowned. “That makes no sense.” Zayden nodded slightly. “I know.” Silence again. But this time… it wasn’t empty.

1921 - Seer "Another fated one has denied his destiny, we remain under Vampire rule for another one hundred years." I peered into the hot liquid and ran a finger down the steaming pot, watching carefully as the ripple expanded. "I fear a repeat of history, the next chosen ones give me a bad feeling, they may not be ready in time."

Elara said. Behind them, the Oracle’s voice echoed one last time. "The fire has been lightened. The reckoning begins." As they exit the sanctuary, the ground splits beneath them. A beast of molten flame bursts from the earth, eyes locked on Elara. It speaks one word: "Chosen… The chosen one!" Elara moved Lerder aside, but Lerder also wanted to face the consequences of Loving a chosen one.

Her eyes then fell on some words which were underlined and she read out, “The gathering of the dead.” It was short, yet had its meaning, but Hazel couldn’t understand what it means. She went back to where she had stood from and turned the book of prophecy to face her. She then read out, “The Chosen One will make a sacrifice on the land of ashes.” She then looked at the book in her hand and read the underlined part, “The gathering of the dead.” She tried to piece the two together so she said, “The Chosen One will make a sacrifice on the gathering of the dead,” replacing the part where it said ‘the land of ashes.’

" Jessica said, and at that moment I knew where he might be keeping Darius. "We need to go to the study. That is a place where we retreat to our time alone, and that could be the place where Arnon would have kept him to perform the sacrifice from in there," I instantly said to them as we began to make our way towards the study. We had left some of the members at a corner, hoping that they were going to be safe because we could not We were running around the Alpha chamber, and that way, we saw we were now so much.

“I have readied some biblical readings to discuss with them” Once inside the witch’s chamber, Leo looked intensely into their eyes and spoke to them in the old witch's language. “Head chief, you are at great risk and danger. Priest Cornelius pretends to be on your side to destroy the wealth of the church. He was a predator, a vampire.” said the witch with raven hair.

My heart pounded faster as I rummaged through it. Scrolls. Old and brittle. One of them had a title burned into the front. “The Chosen One.” I swallowed hard.

For now. I slipped the phone back into my pocket, taking a deep breath as I glanced back at the others. They were still busy, but I knew I couldn’t let myself get too distracted. We had a temple to find, ancient prophecies to unravel, and, you know, the usual apocalyptic stuff to deal with. I turned to face the tree line again, my mind still swirling with everything Simone had said. Chosen. That word kept echoing in my mind like some kind of dark mantra. I didn’t feel chosen. I felt like I was stumbling through a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from.

Cassian stepped forward. I choose Arielle. Lyra raised her sword. I choose my family. Elara smiled. I choose creation. Kael lifted his hand. I choose possibility. Adrian closed his eyes. I choose uncertainty. Noah stepped forward. I choose to be Noah. Hope looked toward the sky. I choose the future. The Witness lifted his tiny hand. Silver light spread through the clearing. The Creator whispered, And I choose to learn. The Shadow King looked at everyone. Then I choose to become better than what I was created to be.

I could feel the words trying to settle in my heart, but my wolf laughed at them. “They write like cowards who tuck their tails and run at the first sign of something a bit different. We need to find the one who didn’t.” I turned the page and leaned in closer. A crease had pulled the paper tight near the spine, and someone had written into the crack, small and careful, like they’d stolen space from the binding rather than the margin. I had to angle the lantern to be able to see it properly. ‘Not cursed. Chosen.’ My breath stuck in my chest as I read the words aloud over and over again. There weren’t many of them, but they filled my chest with a hope that made me want to grin wildly.
