He bows so low his forehead nearly touches the slick obsidian floor, heart hammering against his ribs. The throne looms above him, an ominous construct of midnight-hued metal, jagged at the edges like the maw of some ancient beast. Two silver skulls leer from the top, their empty eye sockets seeming to watch, to judge. Draped over the arms of the throne is a pelt of silver fur, unnervingly soft against the fingers of the man seated within it. What beast the fur once belonged to, no one but the throne's master knows.
