Domenic said as he extended his hand towards Anthony, and they shook hands. "You too. So this is how you guys camp?" Anthony said as he gestured towards the cabin. "You didn't actually think my sister would sleep outside in a tent. No no, we keep Summer indoors, away from spiders." Domenic joked as he messed with Summer's hair. "She is afraid of bugs." He said as he used two fingers to mimic a bug walking on Summer's hand. "I'm not afraid of them, I'm just disgusted. That's different." She said as she smacked his hand. "Why don't we all head inside and get settled."

Part 4: Midsummer Dreams Summer Holiday tossed and turned in the middle of a dream that had visited on and off her whole life. She knew she was dreaming, but she didn't want it to end. The sand was warm beneath her feet and the surf lapped softly against the shore. No one else was around, just the two of them. The handsome, golden-haired man gazed at her with his midnight-blue eyes. He reached for her and she walked into his arms. He was mostly naked, a pair of cut-off jeans his only covering. She had on a sundress, with a bikini underneath. This part of the dream was the same, had been since she could remember. As she'd gotten older though, it had grown more and more explicit. Moonlight came through the big windows. I moved to his desk first. Drawers were locked. I tried the bookshelves next. Nothing. Then I noticed a small painting on the wall. It looked different. I lifted it carefully. Behind it was a hidden safe. My heart raced. I tried numbers. My birthday. Nothing. Sarah’s birthday. The safe clicked open. Inside were papers and a small black book. I pulled out the book. My sister’s diary. Real leather. Her handwriting on the first page. Tears came fast as I read.

“Maybe it wasn’t the right time then, but together we might just find a way to change things now. The human world has changed and I think it’s time this world does too.” Selene smiled back at me but her sadness was still clear in her eyes. “I don’t think you'll need my help. You seem to already be working on a plan of your own. Be safe young one.” And just as quickly as the bright light had come, it vanished. Once again I could feel Kent’s arms wrapped around me as I willed myself to drift off to true sleep.

Summer Margins Six months later, the bite of the winter solstice had completely vanished, replaced by the heavy, golden warmth of a Pacific summer. The slate glass and frost of the rugged coastline were gone, swapped for deep blue water that rippled gently under a brilliant June sun. Down at the Oakhaven Cove marina, the air was thick with the scent of wild sea roses, sun-baked cedar docks, and roasted coffee beans.

Alyssa left Alcinder and went closer to Elektra. “Where did you find this book? Elektra!”. “I stole it from one tricky witch”, Elektra winked. “And that tricky which has one chapter only she can open”. Alyssa playfully shoved Elektra from the stool and sat on the stool. She caressed the book and gave it a feather-like kiss. The book glowed swiftly. Elektra was taken aback, she was wowed. Avyanna had gently lifted Alcinder and had his head on her lap. She gently traced the contours of his face. He had sandbags under his eyes and he was paler. He was hurting and she could feel it.

In my defense, I had been distracted and was running late. However, I guess that wasn’t a good enough excuse, especially since I refused to tell them what had distracted me. I liked boys, of course, I did! But what I didn’t like was the hot-headed Alphas thinking they could corner me and put their hands on me whenever they wanted to. Like that idiot, Summer’s from a western pack did. Thinking he was all badass and shit and was going to make me submit. HA! What a laugh!

"Aunty Mimi, we can go and come back today, it's still early, it's a Saturday, daddy won't be home untill 9:00 am, the journey is just 2hours, the earlier the better, or, maybe .." she said and aunty Mimi's heart was already racing kilometers. "Your father might decide to come home earlier" aunty Mimi said as she rubs her head, trying to pacify the demon that brought the idea to life in her. Unfortunately, the demon grew wings .

During the summer break of the following year, I went back to my hometown. But Layla was not around. She had gone to Northcall for her postgraduate studies. Unable to sleep, Hilda tossed and turned. In the early dawn of the morning, she suddenly heard the sound of rain hitting the eaves. Hurriedly putting on her nightgown, she got out of bed, pushed open the window, and saw an unexpected summer rain. The weather in August was hot and humid so every time it rained, the air was filled with hot steam. Standing by the window, Hilda reached out. Feeling the cold raindrops fall into her palm, she finally relaxed.
