Not ever. Summer sat by the window, staring out into the darkness. The cold breeze from the open window brushed against her skin, but the chill in the air was nothing compared to the unease gnawing at her chest. Hilda had just left for the night, and now she was alone, consumed by thoughts of what Jessica was planning. Her mind couldn't settle, turning over the conversation she'd overheard earlier. Jessica's words echoed in her mind—When the foxes leave tomorrow, Summer will go with them.

And then there were Marianne and Elena—inside, carrying the weight of summer storms long past, and secrets that stretched across years like invisible threads. Chapter V: Memories It was a little blurry and muddled but Ren was sure it was a tiny memory of long back then. It was from one of his adventures as a rebellious child, he’s small though. He likes to escape and sneaks out of the house whenever the babysitter has fallen asleep, but Ren is a good little kid you see, he always makes sure to be back before they notice he’s missing. Summer said, her eyes gleaming with the prospect of new adventures. "Or we could just sit on the lawn and look at the stars. Seems like a good way to start adapting to the new rhythm," I suggested, imagining moments of peace and reflection. "It's like we're starting a new chapter, and each page is a new adventure," Summer commented, with an excited tone. "Let's fill this chapter with amazing memories."

Checks the time 'Sh*t it's already six thirty'. Summer had begun and all of the neighborhood kids took advantage of every bit of daylight that shined. As soon as the sun come up you could hear the ATV's rummble from inside the house. Blacking out her windows to get some sleep during the daylight hours had done its job but there was nothing she could do about the noise disturbing her rest. She remembered what it was like to be a child. Carefree. Happy. Endless summer days with friends. That isn't something she dared ruin for them. Besides her salted caramel java monster would pep her up in no time.

I put the book away in my nightstand to have something to do, give myself a moment, before pulling the covers away from the bed, letting her in. She was still shivering when she lay next to me, curled up to my side, and formed her body to fit mine. This she didn't do often. Cuddled. We'd watched movies, talked long into the night, but rarely got this...intimate. "I'm cold." I rubbed my hand up and down her back to warm her, trying to conjure an idea for conversation that didn't involve how hard a certain part of my anatomy was becoming. Summer suggested, practically vibrating with excitement. I nodded, grabbing the thick blankets I'd had prepared by the door. We stepped out onto the private terrace, the cold air immediately nipping at our exposed skin. I wrapped a blanket around Summer's shoulders before pulling her against me under a second one. Above us, the aurora had expanded to fill the entire sky—swirling, pulsating, alive with cosmic energy. Summer tilted her face upward, the ethereal light playing across her features, transforming her into something otherworldly and magnificent.

"You didn't actually think my sister would sleep outside in a tent. No no, we keep Summer indoors, away from spiders." Domenic joked as he messed with Summer's hair. "She is afraid of bugs." He said as he used two fingers to mimic a bug walking on Summer's hand. "I'm not afraid of them, I'm just disgusted. That's different." She said as she smacked his hand. "Why don't we all head inside and get settled."
