When it was all over, he’d understand and they’d be fine. Everything would be as it was before. They would laugh about it one day. Sunny was barely into her fourth round in the game, when her cell phone went off again. Letting herself get killed so she could leave the round, she checked the screen and pushed to her feet. Magnus was hunched over his papers, extremely caught by his work, so Sunny hurried to hide in the bathroom. When she locked the door and slid her finger across the screen, she gasped and nearly dropped it.

Normal morning things. Sunny stops every three feet to investigate something invisible. “You’re ridiculous,” I tell him. He continues sniffing the sidewalk like it’s a crime scene. Eventually we circle back toward the apartment. I grab a coffee from the small café on the corner and head upstairs. Sunny collapses dramatically onto the rug as soon as we get inside, satisfied with his morning achievements. I refill his water bowl and sit at the kitchen counter with my coffee. My phone lies on the table. I glance at it.

In pain, with a pale face and cold sweat pouring down, Sunny finally decided to call Leo for help. She didn't want to leave her wound untreated, as infection could lead to more serious consequences. When Leo answered Sunny's call, he lazily asked, "What's up? Have you made up your mind about my proposal?" Sunny, gasping and out of breath, said, "Leo, can you come over and help me? I'm injured." "Injured? Where are you injured?" Leo didn't think it was serious, so he wasn't particularly anxious. "I've been stabbed." Sunny replied in agony.

(give me control now my dear child! I do not need to be told twice. I retreat and give Sunny full control. I am grateful she doesn't block me entirely, giving me a chance to observe the battle. Sunny is bigger than any other wolf and that works to her advantage. I watch her tear the hell hounds to pieces without breaking a sweat. My father's wolf Leo, Luca, my uncle's wolf and Miguel inch closer and fight back to back with Sunny. It is as if there is no shortage of supply where the darned hell hounds are coming from.

He nods. “My Sunny helps place orphans with good packs. One of her many pet projects,” Godfrey says, as if it's no big deal. “Sun… Sunny? You’re the one who helped find red wolf pups,” I say, my voice nearly a quiver. I don’t know why but it just came out that way. “Oh yeah. My wolf Ember… well I lost her when… well you know,” she says, clearing her throat.

Completely disgusted, Pia Drew walked briskly going inside but Andrew held her hand tightly that he could feel her bones in his palm. "Remember everything you did in the library?" Andrew showed his dimpled left cheek. "Are artists supposed to be trained how to handle situations like that?" Pia Drew hardly pulled off his hand from her wrist. "Sunny, why do you hate me so much?" There was a sudden silence while their eyes met. That was the very first time Pia Drew heard him call her Sunny. "Do you expect all people to like you?" "No. That's why I want to get you to like me."
