Scene 6: A New Howl As dawn broke, the first true sunrise in years, Liora climbed to the highest ridge and raised her head. The others joined her—wolves of every color and creed, howling together as the golden and silver light spread across the sky. High above, the Rebirth Moon glimmered softly, no longer cracked but whole. And if one listened closely, they could hear Iris’s voice in the wind: "Where there is light, there is shadow. Where there is love… There's eternity."

Her palms tingled where they touched the soil. High above, the bright sky had shifted almost imperceptibly. A thin veil of cloud began to drift across the sun, softening its glare. As the light dimmed, the air cooled, and there—faint, ghostly—Luna could just make out the pale suggestion of the moon. It hovered low and washed-out, nearly invisible against the bright day, but once she'd seen it, she couldn't unsee it: a fragile crescent, looking down on her.

The clearing lay silent, save for the whisper of the wind through the ancient pines and the soft murmur of a distant stream. The moon, swollen and blood-red, hung low in the sky; its eerie light illuminating every dewdrop, every blade of grass, and every scar on Selene’s skin. For a moment, the world was reduced to this fragile, luminous peace; a stark contrast to the chaos that had roared just hours before.

"And let us not forget the artifact itself. It holds immense power, but we must approach it with caution. We must respect its potential and use it wisely. Our intentions must be pure, focused on bringing about positive change." As the radiant sun gradually descended beneath the distant horizon, its golden light relinquished its hold on the world, making way for the moon to embark on its celestial journey. The lunar orb, with its soft luminescence, began its ascent, casting an enchanting glow over the sprawling landscape. The transformation from day to night was a mesmerizing spectacle, painting the surroundings with an ethereal ambiance that stirred the depths of Scarlett's being.

I spot Marlene and the little boy amongst them and call out their names. “Luna! Come, come see the corn we’re growing!” they call out excitedly. I turn to Ryder who smiles at me. Then, together, we walk hand in hand towards the crowd and join them in the harvest. EPILOGUE It is a full moon and the moonlight shines brightly on a clear still pond in the deep forest. The soft moonlight bathes all that it touches in a soft haunting glow. But the light from the moon pales in comparison to the bright shining orb in the middle of the pond.

He was enough. “Yes, sunlight…” He chuckled softly in his deep, seductive tone. “Is that my new nickname?” “Yes,” I cautiously looked into his lustful eyes, biting my lower lips. He kissed my eyes and said, “well… this sunlight wants to show you…” “What?” “The sunrise… I want the very first rays of the new sun to touch you…” Amor wrapped me in a blanket and we were standing on the roof of the luna palace. The sky was in a rosy hue near the horizon, painted with clouds scattered all over the sky. The sky was vividly and deftly transitioning from red to white to shades of blue as the crepuscular rays sprawled in the ether.

Not the sun itself yet, just the advance of it, the sky going from black to the specific grey-blue that preceded dawn, the stars fading one by one as the light grew confident enough to take the sky back. Silver Moon became visible around us, the pack grounds and the school and the buildings and the third training ground and all the ordinary structures of a life being lived well, rendered first in grey and then, as the sun crested the eastern ridge, in the specific gold of the first morning of the new year. Asha made a sound. The fullest version yet. Not a word and not not a word, something on the exact threshold of language, her whole small self going into the making of it.

It glimmered faintly in the morning sun, a small comfort and constant reminder that Sebastian’s promises were alive, tangible, and real. As she descended the staircase, she felt a sudden chill brush her skin. The moon, though hidden by daylight, seemed to whisper through her veins, and her mind flickered to the vision she had had just before dawn. The Moon Goddess had appeared again, cloaked in silver light, her eyes deep pools of eternity.

Then the clouds came. The second the sun was hiding behind the clouds, the loudest shriek Liam had ever heard in his life erupted from behind him. He turned, but he was too slow. A figure in a black cloak had grabbed him and lifted him a solid foot from the ground. It’s hands were cold, clammy, and strong. Liam struggled to breathe, crying out in pain. He could feel his neck being crushed under the weight of this...creature’s...strength, and he kicked and struggled as hard as he could. Liam could hear the sounds of the townsfolk fleeing, knocking over chairs and each other to get away from the cloaked figure. Liam took a second to look into it’s eyes, determined to see who was attacking him.

While the plant provides power for most of the state, it does not require that many employees to run it so the town remains small. Amaris threw off the plain white sheets and rolled out of the twin bed that lay nestled against the wall and in the corner of the room. When she was a child, Amaris would push the bed back against the wall every night so that she could lay at the foot of her bed and look out her window at the moon. There was nothing more beautiful than the sight of the full moon in all her glory.
